Upgrading from a two piece to a one piece Easton stick

Recommended Posts

For many years I have been using an Easton Z-Bubble 110 flex Shaft with a 5 lie Easton Focus flex 3/8 / 9mm Mid/Heel Modano blade. I am looking to purchase a new one piece Easton stick, and would like to know witch model would most likely perform like my current set-up. I am looking for the same kick and overall feel. The shaft says performance 9, wear 8 and weight 275 Grams. Thanks

the blade pattern im pretty sure is a formally Zetterberg now Cammalleri curve. as far as stick goes.. im not entirely sure. Maybe you should see if anyone you know has a newer easton stick you could try and see what you like for yourself?

Thanks, I was able to find the blade info pretty easy. I wonder how much the focus flex blade makes a difference? If any? I love the Modano blade, but don't care about the focus flex blade. I don't even know what type of flex/kick my shaft is.

yeah its pretty hard to tell, ive never been an easton guy. so older models i really dont have much knowledge of, and i def dont want to mislead you by any means. You might want to look into the s19 shaft though. it does "bubble" out near the end of the shaft where the tenon on the blade fits. as far as one piece if you want to spend the money the new RS is pretty good from what ive read around here. im sure someone will eventually get you some more information.

Thanks, I am in no hurry. My current stick is getting old and don't want to have to replace on the fly. I have heard alot of good things about the new Easton RS.

I believe the patent application for that said it was ornamental and not functional. I had a couple break there, but my shot form wasn't as good then.

The Z-Bubble tapered down (and then obviously flared back out) but was a standard shaft. It really had a mid kickpoint and the focus flex on the Z-Carbon blade did absolutely nothing. The Z-Bubble had a very standard square shaft shape. So you're basically going to be looking for a mid kickpoint Easton stick with the Cammalleri curve (it has changed names several times since "Modano"). The new Easton Stealth RS fits this description, but will be noticeably lighter and more balanced than your old shaft/blade setup. Feel will also be noticeably better.

Excellent info guys, thanks. I didn't think the focus flex blade did anything because I had a standard blade before that, and didn't notice a difference.

If you are mail ordering be advised that the Cammalleri on the RS is the new Cammelleri (P4/ Zetterberg) and in the stock I have seen around here the S-19s (and probably some others) are the old Cammalleri (P2 / Shanahan).

I will be going to a store first. If I am paying that kind of money I want to hold it in my hands first.....I will check out the blade, a Modano is very unique.

The Modano hasn't really changed at all over the years (or maybe they changed the lie by 0.5 during one year, can't remember), but the profile and curve have stayed identical. It went from the Modano and merely had name changes to become the Forsberg, Zetterberg, and now Cammalleri. Same curve.

Actually the z-bubble was a tapered shaft that flared (bubbled) at the bottom to accept a standard blade. All things considered, my suggestion would be an ST, if you want the most similar stick all the way around. Plus it comes in a 110.

I thought they took standard blades...

They do, but they also perform more like a taprered shaft than a standard one

They had an ST at my LHS and it felt great....price was nice too. I appreciate all the info. Now that I know what type of stick I currently own I can make a smarter purchase. Almost forgot, my buddy spoke with the rep and he suggested a RS. I like the opinions you guys gave me because I play for fun and coach mites....a 250.00 stick is a little steep.

the rep suggested the RS because it is the latest and greatest, not because it fits your criteria

Yep, I remember my old z bubble to feel more like a tapered shaft. I thought your post said it flared out to accept a tapered blade. I guess that I misread it. My bad :)

My buddy was upset he called the rep. He thought he would get more info and so did I. That's ok, you guys sent me in the right direction.
