FootDisc footbeds

Recommended Posts

First post... thanks for this great forum!

I was wondering if anyone has tried FootDisc Proactive Insoles? I was at Perani's and they had them with a device you stood on that told you your foot arch type. I have low/med arches and it identified them. Anyway, I bought a pair but have not had a chance to skate with them yet. I did fit them in my skates and wore them around while walking though. First impression was they seemed to make me feel "disconnected" from the boot a little due to the added volume. I have never used aftermarket footbeds, but the foot pain from collapsed arches got bad after an hour of skating, so I thought I would try something. Just wondering what other thought of them.

No I have not, but I can give you some advice from my experience. I have always used Insoles in Bauer skates. Superfeet Yellow and Graf work well. When I break in a pair of skates, I go through several stages. First, I usually have to take my skates off after 20 minutes or so when I first skate. I have the arch pain at first. This can be tricky, because if your insoles raise the arch to high you will have arch pain. I have arch pain for the first couple of hours or so, but it is mild and goes away. Usually after 3 or so hours, I get a blister somewhere, this time it was below my ankle where the padding was rubbing on my foot. What ended up happening to me is... I have a custom insole on the right foot and the stock Bauer insole on the left. I will recommend that you give the skates some time. Yesterday I went out and had no problems, this morning I went out and got a blister??? doesn't make sense, but that's how it works for me.

If these prove to thick then I will give SuperFeet a shot. I have some other issues with my skates at the moment so I need to see how that pans out before going to far with the footbeds.

I just ordered Superfeet. The Graf Insoles work well but for some reason I cannot use them in my left skate. Going to try Superfeet, heard they fit better in Bauer skates.

Just a follow up.... While the arch support was nice the heel cup area proved too thick for me. It didn't allow my heel to seat properly and I got slight, but noticeable, lift from both heels. Since I can't return them I may try to see if I can reduce the lift somehow, but I'm guessing it won't work to well.

I like the heel setup better in the Graf Sidas insoles and the arch better in the Yellow Superfeet. I am wearing supremes so I have plenty of depth. I could see Superfeet being problematic in a skate with not as much depth. Definately trial and error. The Graf Insoles are now in my everyday shoes for added support.

If you go to the Superfeet website you can also get custom Insoles. http://www.superfeet...ustom_Grey.aspx

There doesn't seem to be a dealer in Michigan....

I bought superfeet yellows last week... I don't know what all the hype is about. Honestly they don't really do anything for me, and I can feel the end of the plastic arch through the yellow fabric bedding so they aren't that comfortable either. Compound that with the fact that they make me feel even more forward on my toes than I did already and I'd say they were almost a waste of $50

I got mine for about $30, and they make a difference. I don't get the aches I used to. They're not going to cure everything for everyone, though.

I thought Bauer used a type of Superfeet in their higher end skates?

Not to my knowledge. They certainly didn't come in my One95s, and I didn't notice them in the TotalOnes and X60s that I tried on.

not on my x60s. they were paper thin. i took the insoles i were with me to try on hte skates. got home and threw away the stock insoles. you would think spending that much for skates bauer would put in decent insole.

Isn't it because of responsiveness/feel. The thicker the insole the less "feel" you will have, plus added weight? I have Superfeet and can't tell the difference.

It might be that the better insoles are better because they are designed for specific foot types, and it wouldn't make sense to pick one that wouldn't suit many buyers, while increasing the cost to manufacture and the selling price.

Agree....This makes the most sense.
