Increasing the stiffness of your skates

Recommended Posts

Okay, here's the deal: I want to reinforce the inside sidewall of my skates by applying something to the exterior of the boot. The boot flexes inward too much under certain circumstances. Does anyone know any type of material that I can stitch or stick to the outside of the boot to reinforce it? Maybe some stiff leather or rigid mesh? Thanks

It depends how much damage have you done and what exact area is causing the problem. What’s the skate model?

It's a pair of T1 classics that I had custom made. I might just order a new pair with a higher stiffness rating, but mine feel so good right now that I want to stick with them for a while. Also, I do like how the present stiffness rating is on the rest of the boot. If I could just get the lower part of the inside of the boot a little stiffer they would be perfect.

i am not sure how much stiffness i got or if its even measurable but i used tough toe(toe pro) on my very soft vapor 30's and they have just recently gone back to being super soft after about 6 coates and more than 80 hrs on the ice with them.
