technophile 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2012 My favorite personal moment was a game a few years back that my wife and a couple of friends had come to watch me play -- C league rec hockey, nothing fancy. We were down by 1 with about 90 seconds left to play and pulled our goalie. With about 20 seconds left to go, the opposing left wing got the puck and broke up the side boards, with nobody back.I skated as hard as I could, cutting the angle, and just before he went to shoot I dove, full-on Superman style, swinging my stick as far out as I could. His shot hit my blade and bounced into the corner, he never saw me coming. One of my teammates got back in time to grab the puck and turned it back up ice (didn't matter at that point, there was maybe 5 seconds left). I can hear my wife and friends cheering me, so I stand up, skate towards the stands, and take a huge bow, to peals of laughter from the whole audience. We lost, but it was the most fun I've ever had losing. Second favorite was a playoff game at the end of my very first organized season. We took two penalties, and after a timeout the captain looked down the bench and told me to get out there. I'd only been playing organized ice for something like 4 months at that point and here I am defending a 5 on 3. After about 30 seconds of really tense defense, I get hold of the puck with a little bit of clear space. I go to wrist it down the ice, I see the one forward on my team breaking hard through center, hit him with the pass, and he scores a breakaway goal. Cue mad applause from everyone else in the league who's sitting in the stands.I honestly can't remember if we ended up winning or losing that game, but that moment totally hooked me on ice hockey for life. Apes44 7 Report post Posted February 19, 2012 Gotta agree with ibeck on the NHL part, i still get goosebumps when i watch a replay of that! Personal moment was when i was in high school, my last game before the career ending surgery (well competitive, full contact) i wanted to score so bad, and no matter what i did i couldnt buy a goal. Finally with about 45 seconds left I came in on a breakaway just put the puck on the net, goalie got a piece of it and i thought to my self, ah crap its not going in, as i turned behind the net the puck barely trickeled in! AIREAYE 248 Report post Posted February 20, 2012 My favorite personal moment was after a high school tournament at York University. We did poorly stats-wise in that tourney, but it was great fun both on and off the ice. After th etourney we were all spent and filed onto th eschool bus for the ride back. It was the combo of the late afternoon sunset, Jason Mraz's 'I'm Yours' on the radio (don't judge, it was unique ) and a bunch of tired hockey players that really sealed it as a great day and a serene 'for the boys' moment. mug25 2 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 NHL = Most definitely this. Technically, I wasn't a huge fan back then. I was still really young and very much into the Yankees still. This is what MADE me love Hockey. I guess you could say I became a bandwagon fan that stuck with the team forever :) As for my personal moment...I think it was the first time I scored a goal in front of my Father. He was so excited, he actually called my Grandmother just to tell her.
hockeymass 11 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 Watching the final seconds of game 7, 2011 SCF tick down, knowing that it was over and seeing the players start celebrating on the bench, then watching everything go nuts. The entire playoff run last year was incredible, from start to finish.Favorite single moment, though, is this absurd sequence:
