Baby powder on stick blade

During the Blues-Ducks game the other night Bernie Federko was talking about back in the old days players would use baby powder on their stick blades instead of wax. I've never heard of such. Has anyone tried this? If so what's your thoughts?

Friction (Gordie Howe) tape with a little dusting of baby powder was very popular when I was growing up. I've always used straight friction tape.

Does anyone still even use friction tape anymore? Maybe the dude still rocking a Cooper SK2000 and swinging a Titan woody.

I use hockey tape on my Titan.

i use baby powder on the handle of my stick to remove the sticky residue from the tape.

I use powder/cornstarch on a few pieces of equipment, but not my stick.

Maybe I'll give this a try next game.
