Inno 1100 Not Hollow? and Broken XN10 Question

Recommended Posts

Well I had an inno 1100 fused that was cracked on the bottom of the blade and had put it off for like 2 months. I decided to go get a blade for it today. I went to the pro shop and they sawed off the blade (where the fused part seems to be obvious) and it turns out the shaft is not hollow? I thought all the inno 1100 fused was an inno 1100 shaft and a blade fused together as one, which would make the shaft perfectly fine to insert a blade into if the blade cracked? Why is this not the case with the 1100 fused?

Also, I broke my XN10 last night at the blade and was wondering if I could put a blade in the shaft without flipping the shaft over (I have a monster plug in there so it would be way too short to use if I inserted the blade into where the plug is)?

Thanks.

Can someone explain to me how exactly to chisel the hosel out of a fused 1100? I know what a chisel is, and I know how to chisel something...well...wood...but I'm just not getting how to chisel out the hosel.

Do you run a drill bit through it & break it up or something?

Or does a small, sharp chisel run right through the stuff if you scrape it along the inside wall of the shaft & tap it with a hammer?

and yes...I know...this is a very old topic...lol

You cut through the hosel, you need to chip it out before you can use the tapered end.

or cut above the hosel, since chipping it out is a pain in the ass..

A dremel makes it easy as pie.
