Skates with narrowest heels?

Recommended Posts

Which off the shelve skates have the narrowest heels?

I know I can go custom but don't have the funds :(

Just asking as a guide, will be trying them on.

Thanks

I wouldn't say there's a 'narrowest', but Vapor, Stealth and Flexlite come to mind. It's all relative though.

vapors? i have to disagree, i have had x60/x40/apx, and compared to the stealth on the other side is the way to go if you have a narrow heel/ankle and/or graf 703/735

I'm sure there are heel width measurements out there, but that is what I have noticed. Like I said, it's relative to the person defining 'narrow' but obviously, I could be wrong.

Narrow can mean how big of a foot print your ankle makes, or how thick your ankle is around the ankle bone. I think someone could leave a big imprint with the sole of their heel but still have a skinny ankle.

The thread is about heel width, not ankle volume. I second that vapors are not narrow heels

As a guy with a skinny foot (I wear "true C/AA"):

The vapors were the narrowest in the Bauer line for heel size

The 703/G3/735 are the narrowest (width "N") in the graf line...but you have to like the low profile to want those

Every other skate suffers from elephantitis of the heel. For me even the vapors a bit too wide out of the box. The 735 heel was perfect at the heel, but the forward pitch and low profile of the boot were impossible for me to adjust to. My narrow heel/foot is the major reason why I have to go custom...other than my addiction to a perfect fit.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was never really sure which aspect was referenced when discussing heel fit.

In my experience Vapors don't work well for me with my ankle volume. My heel never stayed down in them.

Supremes work better for me bacuse of the additional ankle padding for my skinny ankle volume and regular "width"

Maybe the mfg's and online retailers that describe fit charactoristics should be more detailed about heel fit, including both ankle width

as well as ankle volume.

Hockeydog, I have trouble with my narrow heal as well. The manufacturers don't discuss specific fit aspects of skates because they profit from the consumers that don't realize the skate doesn't fit them.

Currently in S17s specifically for the heel width. Haven't be able to try on any Grafs, but the Vapors are the closest thing that works in Bauer. The Reebok D/AA were still rather wide.
