Need help with switching from an S19 Iginla to ?(Widow or Apx)

Recommended Posts

Have been using an S19 Iginla curve, would like to know what anyone who has used an S19 and one of the following thinks between the two sticks (Warrior widow se and the apx). I think the blue widow se is the best looking stick on the market and i'm a sucker for nice sticks, I've also heard good things about shots but does is shoot as "true" as the s19 and has anyone had any durability issues? I've heard problems with the blade, also how does this compare to the S19 overall from your experience? Also, what curve that warrior offers is the closest to the iginla? I think between the 3 (apx widow s19) the widow is the heaviest. I also don't know much about the apx, light as hell though, Any thoughts?

Thanks a bunch, will be going in tomorrow for the twig.

The apx is great, as is the widow. Both kick very hard, but have a different feeling. The closest curve would be a kovalchuk on the widow or the p88 on the apx. I think the lie is closer between the iginla and kovy, the p88 is a higher lie. The kovy also has a square toe, compared to the rounded p88. The rocker is also flatter on the kovy, like the iginla.

I'm a big fan of the widow but it shoots a little differently from the S19 and very differently from the APX. As for something similar to Iginla, there really isn't a clone. Gionta will be more of a toe curve, Burrows is like a Modano, Kovalchuck looks like a bigger curve and Zetterberg looks like more of a heel.

The kovy is deeper, but would be the closest to the iginla iirc. I can.switch between a heatley, iginla, kovy, and p88 easily. The only thing I really notice most is the lie and rocker of the p88, since it is different compared to the others. And the fact that the toe is rounded.

I don't think the kovy would be as big of an adjustment as the p88 or any of the other curves.

went with the kovulchuk 75 flex and cut it about two inches so the flex I'm hoping is somewhere around 82. Initial thoughts: not as light as the pro stock s19 but it does feel very nice in the hands and i really like the nipple grip. will take it on the ice tonight to get a better understanding of it. They only had kovy and gionta, hoping its a good curve for sauce.

Didn't go for the RS simply because i like a little bigger of a shaft and the rs seems to be somewhat thinner, and also i can get pro stock s19s for 150 while rs goes for 250ish. its a beautiful stick indeed, but ever since alex burrows used this stick (widow se) in the playoffs last year, I've been wanting to get it, best looking stick on the market and I've heard great things about the dagger tech and the shots you can get.

I was looking at a bauer stick (not sure exactly which one, could have been a totalone) that showed where to cut the stick to change the flex, it was a 77 and cutting it two inches made is an 83? ( i could be wrong about this) but cutting 2 inches does really nothing?

Not all sticks are the same. The Widow uses a different flex profile than most sticks.
