Looking to get a jersey re-named/numbered

Recommended Posts

I bought a Mike Richards Flyers jersey after he was traded, got a really good deal on it (was put on the clearance rack and was an extra 50% off = $35.00). I wanna get it re-named/numbered into a Giroux jersey. Does anyone know of a place I can buy LEGIT lettering/numbering kits from? Or have a place that I can send the jersey off to get done? It's the home jersey by the way. Thanks for the help.

EPS is where I'd buy the kit from and have someone else do the work. I had them do a team-issue TBL jersey for me. The only thing was they pissed me off by not following instructions on one patch, so I had it resolved locally. The jersey had an early NHL shield logo on it and needed the newer one with the font angled the opposite direction sewn on top of it. The logo was on the back of the jersey near the bottom. They sent it back with it sewn on at the neckline. I was furious to say the least. More so when they pretty much denied doing anything wrong and told me so. I went over the order verbally with the company owner and also typed up a note detailing where I wanted the new logo sewn. The best part was when I posted pics on another site and explained they told me they'd do nothing about it... and then the owner emailed me and told me to remove my post if I ever wanted to do business with them again. The post stayed.

I actually did this with a Blackhawks Marty Havlat jersey I bought for $24 at Champs Sports (good deal)

I used a pocket knife and stitch remover and managed to remove the numbers and name plate (don't bother with the letters just the name plate).

I was in NYC and had it redone with Toews and C. Looks perfect.

They charge $40 for the iron on kit (which use better lettering twill than the standard premier).

There's a whole lot of info on the forums at icejerseys.com, including who does the team jerseys, and stories on experiences with different shops that do this. There are plenty of Philly fans there, who have had this done a lot.

Awesome info guys. Thanks a lot. I never thought about it being easier to making it into a Schenn jersey. I may do that instead. Hmmm we'll see

One thing I thought about after I posted is what jersey is it? Lite Dark Black Orange? Did the Flyers use it this season? If not it would be a kinda jersey foul since he never wore that one but it's really a technically. Glad you got such a deal and please share your results when you are finished.

Before I became a gear whore, I was big into authenic jerseys. My collection was over 200 at one time combined between NHL, MLB, etc... I got out of that game now, but always used Triple Threat Sports for my hockey jersey needs. They have a great knowledge of hockey lettering. If you are really picky, they know everything about every jersey and every year. Fairly quick turn around time as well.

Haha it's the current home jersey. I caught a HELL of a deal. I almost didn't believe it. I went up to the cashier and first thing I said was "Is this jersey REALLY gonna cost me 35 bucks?" The cashier said well let's see, rang it up, and yep, 35 bucks. I almost bought another one haha. So yeah, definitely not a Jersey Foul, I visit Puck Daddy enough to know to stay FAR away from that. haha

Thanks Gefiltefish, I'll check them out!

Check out Philly Express. The guys name is Michael that runs the joint, but I know he is the guy who does the actual players jerseys as far as lettering and numbering goes. Not sure what he would charge for it but he would def be able to match exactly what they have due to the fact that he does them in the first place.
