Warranty this stick? What happened?

Recommended Posts

Well, I've never bothered to warranty a stick before. Bought this April 12th and used it for two adult, no contact playoff games the following weekend. Was organizing my gear a couple days ago and noticed the nose on this was as pictured below. I guess I'd expect it to wear down over time, but not after only two mild uses.....stick is and looks brand new other than what you see below.

Should I warranty this? Has a 30 day warranty so hopefully they won't deny it if I submit?

If a blade did that with two uses, it would appear to meet the definition of a defect and be replaced via warranty.

Do you tape the whole toe? This is exactly why i ALWAYS DO.

Even if you don't tape over the toe, there's no way the toe should be disintegrating like that after just 2 low intensity beer league games. Seems like a legitimate manufacturing defect to me. I have taped over the toe the last few years, never did before, and didn't notice much of a difference in durability, the toes of my sticks have always stayed in pretty good shape regardless of whether or not I tape over the toe.

I must concur as well. Unless your games involved the other players using chainsaws instead of sticks, that shouldn't be happening after being used only twice.

Tape is just a thin layer of cloth. It doesn't protect that much. Even if it was taped that blade would still disintegrate, maybe just at a slower rate.

Sent it back to Miken Saturday. We'll see what they say but for $200 hopefully I'll get another stick.

You should have mentioned that initially, thats just MBM, Mikens Being Mikens

This exact same thing happened to both of my Reebok AI's didn't seem to be a defect thought as another person on my team has a Reebok AI and it did the same thing and Reebok won't cover it. Hope it works out for you getting a replacement.

Yeah ended up switching to the Warrior Widow and 3 months in haven't had any issues although based on what others say about the durability I'm not so sure that it will continue to hold out. Haven't seen that many pros playing with the AI's wonder if it has to do with the blade issues?

The tape is awful chewed up under the toe. I'm betting a lot of digging in along the boards was done with the stick. At the very least, I would suggest a higher lie.

the seam already looks ready to split!

nothing is as bad as the original TPS pre-preg blades. Those split if you looked at them funny.
