x11x 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2012 I am currently in the market for a new stick and I was hoping you guys could offer some input:-I have been using an 87 flex in the One95, and I cut my sticks down 4” (to 105 on Bauers). It is a touch on the stiff side, so I am considering moving to a 75/77 in my next stick.-I like the feel of the mid kick, but that may be because it allows me to flex the slightly too stiff stick more easily.-I was wondering how an 85 flex RS would feel in comparison to my 87 one95. I know that the RS is a low kick stick this making it feel stiffer, but I have also seen many people saying that it plays whippier than rated. Since I’ve heard (correct me if I’m wrong) that Easton’s full length sticks are actually less than the listed flex since they expect you to cut some off the end while Bauers are true to flex at full length, would I likely be better off with an 85 RS or a 75? Krev 86 Report post Posted June 7, 2012 85 flex. Seems to be the perfect wheelhouse for the majority of people that I know that use the RS.
x11x 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2012 If I cut down an 85 flex RS 4" what would the approximate flex be? ~90? For anyone with experience cutting this stick down, do you find that it stiffens up quickly or maintains its whippiness? Also, how low dows the kickpoint feel? Is it super low or more of a mid-low? Krev 86 Report post Posted June 7, 2012 That's about as much as I cut mine down. 5' 8" without skates, and I find that it's just perfect for me. I'd say it's at that mid point between the low and mid-low kickpoint, if that makes sense.
Scotty 8 Report post Posted June 7, 2012 I'd also go with Krev on the recommendation of an 85. The RS has shown to be just a touch whippier than rated, so taking a litle off will compensate for that and should leave you in a good realistic flex range of about 90-95ish. It will be softer than an 85 out of the box, Cut it 3 inches and it will be 85 flex, cut it another inch and it will be about 87~ flex.
x11x 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2012 Ok, that's what I thought and that sounds like an ideal flex range. Can someone who has used both the RS and TO in the same flex chime in on how they compare in actual use?
bruins89 1 Report post Posted June 10, 2012 Ok, that's what I thought and that sounds like an ideal flex range. Can someone who has used both the RS and TO in the same flex chime in on how they compare in actual use?the RS sucks for slappers and has a fragile feel to me. you have to really get a hold of one for it to take off. the one95 feels effortless and lets off bombs. wristers are not as good but the one95 is a better overall stick in my opinion, and im an easton guy. the blade on the RS is interesting and flubs hard passes where the one95 catches them nicely. i had high hopes for the RS but was pretty disappointed. i also went through about four in a month and a half span. during my season i started out using them but about 1/3 of the way through started exploring other options, and i had been using easton sticks since about mites (16 years) and the stealth line exclusively since the CNT.id recommend an EQ50, currently on closeout (~130$..you cant go wrong with this stick for that price) in many places. it is an underrated stick and is more of an overall stick like the total one, but has that great easton blade feel.edit: also used the total one and feel it is better than the one95 in every area except blade feelid rank the three: total one > one95 close second > rs id have the EQ50 tied or maybe a little ahead of the total one
Stryker 37 Report post Posted June 10, 2012 I'd say try a Mako instead of the RS. Especially coming from a One95.
