Violence in Hockey #2

Do you think that the NHL should disallow teams to sign players that are only useful for fighting aspects?

I think Mk is right, enforcers are part of the game, taking them out would be like taking out grinders, or pure goal scorers.

i second that.

Protection is needed. Some coaches can and will minipulate just about any player to injure a star player on another team. Enforcers prevent it. ALSO, how would they determine if you are a fighter or not?

If your last name ends with "omi", "obert", or "orell".

Probie had more goals over his career than almost all of the other "enforcers" of recent years combined.

As for the question at hand, no the league shouldn't prevent them from signing anyone. However teams shouldn't feel the need, or have use for a designated fighter.

As long as the person passes all physicals, legalitys, etc to play in the NHL, every gm should be free to sign them, without regulation from the league.

Probie could actually back it up.  Didn't he get like 25 goals one year while playing with Yzerman?

29G 396PIM in one year, one of the most amnazing years ever.
