RBK 20 skate white in europe?

Recommended Posts

Looks like that probably. I'd wait to see what reeboks holiday catalogue has in it, if the white 20k will be a holiday release.

I would guess that either they recieved tons of demand for white 20ks and realized they should have put them out originally OR they held them back originaly to create high demand and interest then release them at holiday or beginning of 2013 for a little higher price.

The 11K was originally around $700 retail iirc and they made a big jump for $850 to compete with Bauer in the 20K. I don't think making a white equivalent would justify pricing them as the most expensive retail pair on the market.

What I meant, and after re-reading noticed I may have failed to say, was that a holiday release of the white 20k they could ask for 900 and possibly get it as its a special release. Not saying that I have any inside info or anything.. more of a hypothetical situation.

I was just throwing guesses out to why they didnt make a white version originally but might be doing so in time for christmas.

Yeah I think I got what you were trying to say, but pricing it at 900, 50 more than the APX, NXG and Nexus 1000 makes no sense imo. The 20Ks are not at the level of any of them, especially the APX and NXG. Heck, I don't even think the 20Ks are even worth $850, Reebok priced it there to make consumers think that paying more means that they're getting a better skate. A sensible strategy I suppose, but overly-ambitious I think. Judging from online prices, the 11k regular and white models were priced the same as well. http://www.hockeymonkey.com/skates-rbk.html

Why charge more?

Completely agree with your AIREAYE, but this also brings up the question of why the X:60 and 7.0 LE versions both cost more than their regular counterparts, with only a different graphics package. Seems as soon as someone slaps a "Limited Edition" on a skate, prices jump 50$ more than what the regular version is. Consumers are willing to pay more for something they think will set them apart...

Yes, but that's Bauer lol, which is a part of my reasoning. CCM can't do it, Reebok can't do it, Easton sure as hell can't do it, only Bauer can. Bauer is the only one out there with $850 skates and they can price their LE versions more. Customers are willing to pay more because it's BAUER LE and not simply because it's an LE version.

Of course any number of manufacturers can come on here and totally debunk my reasoning, which is very very welcome if they have data to support it (which they won't post). This is simply what I've observed so far.

Well since apparently no US/Canada dealers know about this, I'm guessing that they just custom ordered 20Ks in White and are selling them. That costs a dealer a lot more (for some reason since they're made in the same place as stock 20Ks/CLs) so they're passing that increase onto the consumer.

I dont disagree that Reebok and CCM and others shouldnt be pricing their skates up, but Reebok seems like they feel they can. Thats why I guessed that they felt they could charge more for a white version based off of what bauer does with their LE bc they felt they could price themselves in bauers non LE pricepoint. (if they do make one, and if it is more money)

If Reebok releases a 20K white for $900 and it sells well, then that's all either of us needs to know haha.

All ive heard from a reebok rep is that white 20K's are available via custom but it is roughly a 150$ upcharge to get custom, even if you want retail skates in white. i assume a dealer bought a bunch of custom ones at a deal. Also aireaye, Ive only seen the 20K's at 800. Where are they sold for 850? and are the NXG and APX at 850 or higher?

They seem to be available in at least Germany and Sweden. If I remember, I can ask my LHS about them the next time I go there. Anyway, I don't see any increase in price there. The white ones cost the same as the black ones, which is within the normal price range in Europe.
