Bauer Nexus 1000 Skate Initial Thoughts

Recommended Posts

The 7.5EE Nexus 1000s come mounted with 263mm LS2s, while the Supreme TotalONE/NXG/One100/One.9 in the same size are all mounted with a 272.

I should also add that any of the Supreme skates I listed in a 7.5D come mounted with a 263 as well.

What gives? Something to do with LS2.1 steel, or an oversight on Bauer's behalf?

Same sizing. The different heel and toebox widths between the two skates is why you feel one skate is bigger than the other.

Thanks, make sense. Probably an indication the Nexus are fitting me better than I had thought. Dang, these things are comfy. I kind of want to like the NXG's more, but it's hard to argue with my feet!

I will be trying these on today. I am in need of new skates pretty badly after some significant weight loss has left the skates I wear now feeling loose and sloppy. I just want skates that fit. Right now, jumping over the boards is not a pleasant experience.

Is this design similar to the old Nike Ignite? I've been wearing Ignite ones for about 10 years, and love them still after wearing them 4 to 6 times a week.

Sadly after replacing the holders twice and many runners later, its time to let them R.I.P.

I'm looking for a similar fit, but I'm not sure if Bauer let the design die with Nike.....

thanks

Was so excited when I heard the Nexus line was coming out because of how wide my feet are. After purchasing the 1000's, it ended up being an awful skate for me. I Couldn’t lock my heels in, my arches rubbed, and both inner ankles killed. Went to the One .9 and couldn’t be happier. Apparently the 3D fit with the one.9 was the key for me.

heel pain in these for me when i tried them on, is it just the shape or am i not kicking my feet back far enough? Seems any bauer skates with "patented heel counter" or graf skates hurt my haglunds (which are very large but sensitive i guess).

Forgive me if this isn't the right spot...

I am currently skating in a set of Total Ones (original, not NXG 8.5EE). I love everything about the skate and the fit except for a few small things. My big toe on the right side rubs on the inside and is starting to callous / deform. I've searched but haven't found any consensus on whether or not the T1 toecap can be punched out. I would much rather just have it punched but if that isn't possible would the Nexus solve this? Also the top of my foot is beginning to develop a bump, I have no issues with it in terms of pain/numbness but I am thinking that it might be just a touch shallow for my foot. No issues on my left foot and I've tried different lacing patterns and currently am using a set of superfeet yellow in there. Much less concerned about that then my toe. I can include a picture of my toe, just in case it might help.
