jnovakii 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 Hey all,So, I wear Reebok 7K inline skates and CCM U+ 08 ice skates. I've been measured multiple times at Perani's and they've all said each time with confidence that I am a normal width.I wear a 9D in both. Length is perfect. Lately, I've been getting some pain along the balls of my feet (around the 3rd/4th eyelet). If I tie my skates so that all eyelets line up along the skate, I'll get decent pain, so I've been wearing them a tad loose lately and it helps the problem.Question is, if I go to an E width...will they be too wide???Thanks in advance, everyone. It's hit or miss on the pain...sometimes it's worse than other times. I imagine that's just because of how tight I've tied them that game...
Chadd 916 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 Is the pain on the bottom or the sides? Does the tongue make the laces bulge up across the top of your foot in that area?

Chadd 916 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 I would bake them again and see if that helps at all. If not, trying on an E width skate would certainly make sense as a next step.
romdj 26 Report post Posted September 7, 2012 I'd really consider changing footbed, try superfeet and if you don't like them, you've got 60 days to return them.
Davetronz 109 Report post Posted September 7, 2012 Yeah, try a re-bake, and then maybe try punching out the hot spots before going into a wider boot.
CommodoreColt 19 Report post Posted September 7, 2012 To address your question, the difference between D and E (or a brand's equivalent wide size) is generally very small.Even so, If you're having problems with the width of the skate your options are limited. I'd follow the advice of the previous posters to get the skate widened, then decide if you need a new boot.I wear a wide skate, Bauer's EE specifically. The D width fits with a Geisha-like compression of my forefoot in which I can feel my metatarsal bones being rather close together as well as my toes atop one another. If you're not quite at that level of hell, you might not need a new boot.

Punching and footbed change may be all that is needed. If he goes to E might have heel issues then.

tyson_two 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 also i dont think you need to tie up your skates such that all the eyelets line up, if that causes pain in your foot. If it helps alleviate the pain by doing them looser at the bottom, then you should do that! as long as your feet are still snug and not moving around in your skate (assuming its sized correctly) you should be fine. Zorlac 22 Report post Posted September 12, 2012 Yup, I second the yellow superfeet.... usin 11Ks in E width, still aren't wide enough for my paddles, but the superfeet helped out a great deal...I also BARELY lace the bottom laces by the toecap. They just kinda dangle...
