What APX Skates Are These?

Recommended Posts

Maybe the holders would break because it used to be a roller hockey skate, with chassis on. It's possible that the holders might not have been screwed on tight enough or correctly. Then again, people do manage to convert ice hockey boots to inline skates without problems. Either way, the whole listing is quite misleading, like everyone is saying here.

i've always heard the outsole of inline skates are generally stronger than ice. also, the tuuks are riveted on, not screwed on.

don't the APX-R boots say "APXR" on the sides?? Patrick Kane was wearing skates similar to this in a picture tweeted by Seguin. rumor is that there is an APX LE coming out that's similar to the APX-R's. probably just what you're saying, which is that roller boot with tuuks mounted on them. I feel these came from bauer with the tuuks.

I am assuming the new Vapor APX 2 skates will be released around April, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but in the meantime are there any plans to release an APX LE skate or blacked out version? I saw the Nexus skates in person and the old skool look to those is just fantastic.

yeah, 2 year cycles on the models (work at a hockey store). some variation of the vapor line should be released in april. if they put out a "blacked out" APX I have no doubt they'd sell a ton. A lot of my customers were turned off by the red and silver. I had the APX's last winter and LOVED them, but if they came out in black..oh boy.

Bauer doesn't do top of the line LEs...it's always the second skate and the middle skate.

Those are APXRs - you can see the wear pad on the side of the boot.

LEs come out in the first year of the cycle. Retailers want to move their APXs this winter; bringing in the same skate but in a different colorway that close to when the model is going to be replaced is not a good idea.

The Tuuks wouldn't have chips in them around the copper rivet, or be pressed unevenly, or a gouge (look at the Tuuk logo on the right skate, a part of the U is missing) if it were a factory job. Those holders were removed and re-riveted.
