HattrickSwayze 3 Report post Posted October 13, 2012 I tried on a new pair of Graf 535S skates the other day and was happy with the depth they had in the boot. I have a seriously high instep from about the 4th eyelet up to my ankle. No retail skates including the U+ and Supremes have enough volume for me. The Grafs actually were the best of all I tried on but the boot was a little soft. My question is do the new 535S skates fit similar or exactly like the 735 and G35 models? Grafs website says they do but looking at some retailers websites they look like they might fit a little differently. Has anyone tried all of these on in person? Hermans 9 Report post Posted October 14, 2012 My experience is not "exactly". I started with 735's and now have g35's in one half- size smaller. My 735 are worn with the Graf Sidas footbeds which take up more room than the thin footbeds in the g35 skates. I also find that the stiffer g35 felt like there was less volume for the first two-three months simply because I could not pull them as tight around my feet and my feet felt like they would "pop" out of the skate. The g35 now fit as tight and almost as comfortable as the softer and uber comfortable 735. In short the length and volume, for me, required different foot beds to work well in order to adjust for volume differences between the g35 and 735.

Grafs website says they do but looking at some retailers websites they look like they might fit a little differently. Has anyone tried all of these on in person? They fit "similar", but not exactly like the 735 and G35 models, based on my experience. I found that the 535S fit wider, looser, and with more overall volume than the 735 / G35. The 535S boot is quite soft, and I felt that the new holder and steel just looked and felt "fragile" or that they've compromised on quality.
HattrickSwayze 3 Report post Posted October 14, 2012 Thanks Dave. That's exactly what I was looking for. I really liked the fit of the 535S. The heel was a shade loose when I extended my ankle but it reminded me of a Supreme boot. My only concern was the stiffness of the boot, which is why I started looking towards the higher end models. Was the difference in volume drastically different or was it a minor change? As far as the holder goes, I don't know functionally how its different from the Cobra holder. It didn't seem bad in person, but I'm curious if it keeps the forward pitch or not.
Davetronz 109 Report post Posted October 14, 2012 The volume difference seemed somewhat minor, but the entire skate felt looser than the 735/G35.I'm quite certain that the holder keeps the forward pitch, it just feels and looks more economy.
tigerpants 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2012 I've tried the G35 and the 735, and I've found the G35 to be a better fit for me than the 735. Granted, I ended up going with customs to deal with my volume issues (size 8 skate, but need the depth of a size 9), so I'm rocking G35 customs. If it fits your foot, it is a great skate. HattrickSwayze 3 Report post Posted October 15, 2012 What was the biggest difference in the fit? A Bauer Supreme boot fits me pretty well but I need more volume. I've considered going customs but can't justify it with how much I play.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted October 16, 2012 More volume how? I assume a large instep? I went with some Graf G70 and they are pretty deep. I've never been able to get enough 'wrap' around the top of the instep but the G70 seem to work.

It hasn't given me a lot of trouble until I started using my Reebok's again. My foot is pretty normal apart from that. I've used Bauer Supreme and Reebok 7Ks and those fit my foot pretty well when sized right. CCM U+ felt OK when i tried them on, but they hurt my left heel a little. My biggest problems when finding retail skates are enough depth and getting them to comfortably fit both feet. My left foot is a half size bigger with a decent sized Haglunds bump on my heel, so I end up with either one skate too big or one too small. Without going custom or buying two pairs there's no way around it.The 535S skates I tried on the other day felt good but I was concerned about the soft boot, which is why I was looking towards the higher end 35 series skates.
