Need a new stick, suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I am interested in getting a new stick. I currently use a Reebok 7k which is about 3-4 years old and I can tell the blade is soft and my shots have gotten progressively weaker. I got a great deal on a Bauer Nexus 1000 a few months back and used it maybe 3 times now it just sits in my closet because it was an 87 flex and I normally use a 75-77 flex so it didn't work out so well. Anyways, I am in the market for a new stick and there are SO MANY out there! I tend to make a lot more wrist/snap shots and the occasional slap shot. Weight isn't a huge issue but I want a good stick which is good for my type of shot and one that is also durable. I've read a lot of reviews and some sticks have been known to go soft or break a few months after using them. I play once or twice a week and am not made of $$$ so I really don't wanna spend the $$$ on a stick which only lasts a short while. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

I can't comment on durability. Seems you could break a stock the first time out or 51st time out.

I have been playing for 6 months and have gotten to try a bunch of good sticks.

For wrist and snappers the mako 2 and stealth rs2 have been the best FOR ME as far as those shots go. Covert dt1 next.

Bauer Total One

Bauer Nexus 600

CCM RBZ 60

CCM U+ CL

Miken Z9

Reebok 9K

Sher-Wood T90

Warrior Diablo, Dolomite, Dynasty, Widow

Winwell GX8

I'd choose Bauer Total One, Bauer Nexus 600, or CCM RBZ 60. You can find a lot of older top end sticks on clearance.

I agree with acapt91 on the following (based on price point, durability, and your amount of play):

  • Nexus 600
  • T90
  • Dolomite

I've actually been quite impressed with the durability of my Nexus 600, despite it being heavier than most of the twigs I've been using.

The T90 has been my "go-to" stick for a while. You might be able to find a good price on the Dolomite too.

Widow on clearance now is good deal and nice for mostly snap/wrist shots.

I agree, but don't see it lasting three years for anyone.
