CCM Tacks fit

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering which modern skates comes closest to the CCM Tack fit? I had a pair of CCM Pro tacks that fit great but can't seem to pick them up anywhere now.

Cheers,

Ben

I had (actually still have) my CCM 651 Super Tacks.. the closest thing i found were the Reebok 11ks. Very similar fit.

I had some Flexlite 4.0 Pros that were a bit of a wider fit like wide Tacks, but the skates seemed extremely deep. I'm in 11ks now, and feel like their E width and overall feels roughly the same as the 1052s I had for years.

I haven't found anything that fits like the Pro Tacks... The RBK 20k was/is close, but I found the 11k way too deep/wide with not enough heel lock.

If I close my eyes and play a couple beers deep my Bauer APX come somewhat close. Haha.

If you found a pair of Pro Tacks in 7.5 C/A or 8 C/A you'd be my hero.

I played Tacks most of my High school hockey and after to much trial and error with other brands I find the Reeboks to fit the bill shape wise but with all the bells and whistles of todays tech.

I just picked up the new 14k, and I love them... I forgot what it was like to skate without pain. Anyway, the 14ks are a deep in the mid skate, and wide through the mid foot to the toe box. I play a 7.5ee in these...

I have an average sized heel with a pronounced curve . I get great heel lock down low and good support halfway up.and if I want tight ankles I give it a few pumps, but dont as I get more than enough lock.

I'm not sure why my 11ks (size 6.5E) had very little depth to them, compared to what other posters are sayin', but overall the heellock was NOT good. The toecap had an extreme angle to it, causing pinch, I guess everyone's feet or opinions differ alot cuz my vapors are DEEPER, and have a MUCH better heel lock, and a wider toebox. go figure. AND I dropped half a size. 6EE

I find the depth of my 11ks to be about the same as my 1052s (and Vector 10.0s and E60s). The heel lock doesn't feel like it's quite as good as I remember it being in my 1052s or the other CCM skates I've used since. I'd say that heel lock (without the pump) has been a relative weak point of the 11ks (even though I really like them). I should also qualify this by saying that it has been several years since I've worn Tacks. I also haven't baked the 11ks. The pump seems like it would tighten up the heel area a bit, but I've only tried the pumps once (I'm old).

The last generation of Tacks X92/pro tacks were slightly different than those of the generation before that (X52)..

How does the 11k fit compare with the newer Reebok skates? Is it the same? How do you find the heel lock in the 11k?

The new Reebok line and the 11k line are almost identical in fit, the only thing I have noticed is I feel the toe cap is ever so slightly narrower on the 2012/2013 stuff compared to the 11k line.

Do you happen to remember how to tell the difference between the generations in the Pro Tack line?
