Bauer 7500 Helmet Widths

I usually use a Medium in the Bauer 5000 or Nike Bauer 5100, I am getting a new helmet for the first time since they stopped that series. I was told the 7500 is the new 5000 from a guy at my LHS. I am older now, I still fit into the medium I have been using, but in the middle of the expand-ability. I tried on the Large, and I fit into it aswell. I guess sense the length is adjustable, the width would be the difference.

Does anyone know the different widths? Does anyone have a suggestion on what size I should get?

Whatever size fits the best.

You should be able to tell a difference in the two when you tried them on - go with what is most secure on your head.

The 5000 and 5100 fit very differently. I don't believe they had the 5100 in NBH branding, so were you referring to the 5500? If so, the 7500 is very close, if not slightly deeper.

Width is a very subjective and arbitrary term. It could refer to temple width 'in front' of the ear, 'above' the ear, top of the head (which you can argue would constitute depth and not width) etc.

I found that the 7500 fit tighter in width than the 5100. I also found that there was often a difference in width between different sizes of the same model helmet.

The only information others can give you is suggestions for helmets to try. Once you've tried them, as you have, you know far better than anyone else what fits best.

Yeah I already tried them on, and I cant really tell which one fits better. I am used to the medium and it fits snuggly, which seems good, but maybe its too snug...

I had the NB 5500 helmet in medium and just recently bought the new 7500. My 5500 had cracks at the front vents and ear area. Was just time to let it go.

Any rate, I couldn't remember what size I had bought and asked the shop owner. He said medium and that if I liked the 5500 that the 7500 was its replacement. Pulled it off the shelf, put it on, and fit great. The 7500 does feel a bit wider than the previous 5500. I remember the 5500 feeling like it was squishing my head a little bit where the 7500, while snug, doesn't give me the squishing/pressing feeling at the sides of my head (over my ears, not at the temple). So in summary, I went from a medium 5500 to a medium 7500. I'm happy with with the fit/size. The padding in the 7500 is also softer than the 5500 and doesn't get as hard over time (according to my shop owner). So far I love it. Very comfortable.

Obviously, everyone's head size/shape is different, but that is my experience.

I'm not quite clear on "snuggly", but if it's comfortable, doesn't squeeze or have hot spots, it doesn't sound like there's a problem.
