Most durable blades?

Recommended Posts

I switched to 2 piece sticks this season because I was spending too much on new sticks. With the abundance of shots I take everyday, I go through about 3 blades every month. Anyone know a blade that is super durable? I'm currently using the crazy strong shaft and blade combo.

Thanks.

The performance won't be there, but cheaper blades have more fiberglass and less carbon fiber. More fiberglass means more durability and weight, more carbon fiber means less durability but better performance and a lighter weight.

I'd say that ccm blades are particularly not durable because they are so thin, so are reebok blades, I'd recommend harrow blades, the easton st blade is very durable too..

I've had great luck with the durability of high end Bauer blades. I like the feel and performance of top-end Warrior blades, as well. I don't find that they last as long as Bauers, in general.

I muck and grind and have found that if I use electrical tape along the edge of the blade from heel around the toe all the way back on top to the hosel helps preserve all types of blades from wood to composite.

I agree. Personally I prefer a blade heavy stick so this works out great for me especially on D.

Long time 2 piece user and I'd recommend Harrow for taper blades. Great feel and durability but it's a bit on the heavy side.

For standard blades, I agree with the high Bauer's and Easton ST blades.

I like the high end Warriors too but those, I spray Rust Olem Truck Bed spray on them.... I read it on some thread here on MSH but it seems to extend the life of the blade. I especially loved it on the X:60 tapered blades since they were so light and very pingy....took away some of the pingy-ness from the blade while increasing durability.

A2rhino, I'm going to have to try the Krlyon non-skid coating. I've been looking for something with a bit more texture for the blade.

What's everyone's experience with the Sherwood T90 standard blades?

I haven't really heard anything about them and I'm curious as they have some curves that'd fit my eye.

Chris and Crazy, There is no noticeable change in weight. And yes I have found this to be great as an added layer of protection and texture similar to the snake skin on some pro stock blades.

So do you still tape over the non skid coating? And if so, would texture make any difference anway?

Yes I still tape over the blade. Nothing special, simply use either Renfrew or 3m tape now but looking forward to trying out JR's suggestion.

the RBK 11K that I have is by quite a long shot the most durable blade I've used. Could be just luck, who knows. I have to believe I've gotten 200 games out of it. I bought it in Dec 2010 (I remember because it was right before I moved to Canada for 9 months for work). About half of the time since I bought it I played twice a week, many weeks 3 times a week, but for the last year or so only once a week.

Toe chipped up some but taping over the toe stopped that, and structurally it is still solid.

I've tried the mid-high end blade offerings from basically every brand since 2007 or so. I usually shatter the heel and chip the toe to hell, rather than break the blade outright.
