Baking vapor 7.0 at home.

for a $600 skate if you have a LHS near you i would pay the fee to get them baked there so you know they are done right. If you do not then good luck and I hope someone has an answer for you.

To replicate what a LHS has you will need to have a Convection type oven that circulates the air around the oven to evenly distribute the temperature. That being said, I have friends without a convection oven that have had success backing at home.

Typical high end skates would bake at 200F for 2-5 minutes depending on brand/model...

Preheat oven

Loosen the skate laces and open tongue to allow air flow in the boot

place skate on lower center portion of the oven on a cookie rack with the blades slotted in between so they stay upright

Make sure skates arent touching themselves or heating elements in the stove

Bake time adjusted based on manufacturers recommendations

AAAAH YES! I see Jamie got him some new 7.0s! Welcome to the club man!

Some quick info for ya: Although many folks have had success at home baking, I'd recommend your LHS. The 7.0s by nature, are a stiff skate. I've baked mine twice until finally settling in. Be aware, if you're "pushing the limit of size" like I am, you might wanna try an extremely "loose" lace bake. Despite the attacks I'm gonna get for saying this but putting pressure on the forefoot to widen it out a bit, never bothered these skates at all. You'll also notice alot of responsiveness with these skates. To me, it took a game until I felt comfortable in them. I wear mine barely tightened, 1/2'' sharpening, top eyelet not used. I'm 165lbs in a size 6E... good luck!

Go to the LHS! I tried the 200 degree thing at home and my skates (Vapor XX) looked like a candle melting. its worth the $20 that some LHS charge!

Also, MOST LHSs will rebake if necessary for no extra charge, if you'd like them rebaked at a later time...
