bjlasota 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 Wondering if anyone is using the Rocket Sports Dryer to dry their skates or helmet? I got one a month ago and have been using it for my gear since then and it works like a charm. I'm conerned about the skates and helmet though. The temp gets pretty hot in there, almost melting helmet glue temp, and almost baking temp for skates. Just wondering if anyone's been using it for their skates or not or if there's a reason NOT to put them in the dryer.
mrwizardno2 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 I don't put my skates in there, but everything else goes in. I wouldn't say mine gets anywhere near baking temp - but it is noticeably warm. I'm tempted to put the temperature probe from our baking thermometer in to see exactly how hot it gets, but I'm afraid of incurring the wrath of the SO. Mattc555 22 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 I put everyting but my helmet in there. I've been drying my Graf G5 skates in it since Christmas, and haven't noticed any adverse effects.
salibandy 21 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 I don't put in my helmet, gloves or skates in. I don't want to risk damaging the skates and helmet, and drying out the palms of the gloves. As you said, it can get pretty hot inside.
bjlasota 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2013 Here's the reply I got directly from them."If you dry with rest of equipment its ok.. toes pointed up.. if u dry by themselves test at 15-30 min intervals. Never leave skates near motor...one person did that and melted the blade"I don't plan on using my skates in there after every game. I took a slapper to the toe the other night, and dumped some cold water on it. Just wanted a way to dry them out quickly. I typically take out my footbeds and dry them that way. Got new Graf 3GS skates a couple months ago, and by drying out the way I do, they don't smell. I might try the dryer with my skates for upcoming tournaments. Maybe melt the wax on the laces, or the plastic on the ends.
Monty22 835 Report post Posted February 28, 2013 Probably meant the blade holder.
