one of my freinds says its bad to use tape in roller because of the extra friction but than your sticks take a beating. Does it really make that much of a difference

I use tape on my blade for sport court, but after I tape the blade I get a candle(not a sticky one) and rub it on the bottom of the blade. I like the puck to have some friction on the blade, rahter than on the surface.

I use regular tape plus wax for grip on the puck. After a few slapshots the tape is usually worn off the bottom so as not to get in the way stick handling. I'll take a knife to it if the bottom of the blade gets too ragged.

Tape on the front side of the blade only for me at the bottom.

For the grip, I add about 8 inches of tape down from the top with a raised spiral for grip.

I tape my blade like normal, then i cut the bottom off with a razor so there is no friction with the floor, but I can still get decent grip with the puck.

Any of you use black tape for roller?

I use it, but the rink where we play says you can't have black on the bottom. So I run a thin strip of white along the bottom, then plenty of wax so it will slide/stop the white strip peeling off

but doesnt the floor wear out your sticks kindof badly when ther is no tape on the bottom

no, sure if you have a graphite blade or a wood blade without ABS, that might be wearing very fast.

can i ask what kind of roller surface you play on (pavement or what) and what kind of blade u use? i play roller alot and normally use the koho 2100 ultimate blades or else the new sherwood abs 405 blades. i normally dont tape them - but i do tape my blades and then cut off the very bottom when i play on sport court. just my 2 cents - but its mostly personal preference
