APX skates Vs. Vapor 7.0

Recommended Posts

Does ANYONE have any experience with BOTH of these models from Bauer?

Are the APX skates THAT much stiffer than the 7.0s?

Will the fit differ ALOT from these two models? volume/width?

Is the tongue on the APX a total POS like on the 7.0?

Can the APX be baked in the same mannner as my LHS baked my 7.0s?

thanks for replies.

i have x:60's which are pretty much x7.0's and tried APX at the bauer experience.

didnt feel much difference in stiffness

sizing felt the same didnt notice anything unusual

i like the apx tongue better than the 7.0 tongue for sure but thats probably just my own preference

i think baking is slightly different if not the same because they're different materials, could be wrong but the LHS and im sure many other replies will have the correct answer

I like the stiffness of the 7.0 ... I'd just hate to imagine that APXs could be ALOT stiffer. I ordered a half size bigger in the APX than my 7s, due to cramming my feet in them gets old. I'm concerned with the BREAKDOWN of the skate.

I had some vapor 5.0s that fit like gloves. The problem was the lack of stiffness "broke down" the supported feel of the skate rapidly. The 7s have held support throughout hockey games, and never lost ankle support or stiffness.

Hoping that the APX hold their support like the 7s do, and the fit is similar....

Fit is very similar if not the same from what I've experienced. I found my APX to be MUCH stiffer than the 7.0. Can't answer anything on baking them or tongues though, sorry.

The Curve in the boot will make it stiffer. They're a similar stiffness comparison from the one 75 to 95 skate in that regard.

Curve in the boot? Not sure I'm understanding.. the actual curve of the APX differs from a 7.0? Material wise or shape?

thx

Definately LOWER VOLUME... They fit like my 11ks did as far as volume goes. HOWEVER, the FIT is unbelievably comfortable. No negative space, enough room in the caps for my toes without cramming and a wider forefoot than my 7.0s for sure. Had them baked yesterday, but did notice that my superfeet are hogging up what little volume I had left. May try the stock insoles if I expereince discomfort or lacebite. Overall the best FIT I've had so far in any skates I've owned.

First drop in today, they felt crazy-good! Stiffness was a bit much to get used to, but by the time it was over, I felt comfortable. Fortunately, my superfeet were fine and no lacebite, cold feet, or soreness developed. I like that I can "loose" lace these skates and they still hold up cornering and stopping. MUCH different than my 5.0s and slightly stiffer and more responsive than 7.0s... FINALLY, a skate that fits!
