Most protective retail shoulder pads

Recommended Posts

Looking for the best overall shoulder pad that primarily protects the shoulder cap and still is breathable and mobile. This is for a check league and a history of shoulder issues.

I did a search and could not find this topic.

Thanks

From among those that do not meet NHL specs, I would encourage you to look for the Easton EQ50. Never before have I seen a more tank-like pair of pads in all areas. The Nexus 1000s could also be appropriate.

From among those that do meet NHL specs, the U+ CLs have their good U Foam covered caps while the TotalOne NXG is adequate in all areas as well imo.

Thanks. I actually thought that the RBK/Jofa were going to be the answer or the Warriors due to the number of guys wearing them. Guess not.

I haven't seen any pro stock shoulders so I can't compare. Those are my opinions on retail shoulders at least.

The CM U+ CL are actually what he is wearing now and how this all began. I will look into the Total One pads. Came across some Bauer Pro series shoulder pads with what they say have Anatomical covered poly caps. Your thoughts?

Wait, so are you looking for the best shoulder cap, or the best overall protection in that general area?

The Pros and Lightspeed series were also tank like as well, forgot about those.

There's a pair of pro stock ST16's on eBay right now. Those things were tanks too. I just didn't like the spine pad.

I agree with the eq50, most solid pad ever worn. Second choice would be the nexus, pro series or light speed, which are all generally the same.

Question for those who have used the st16, how does it compare to the eq50 in terms of bulk?
