Mission skates question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a question for all you vets. I purchased some bauer xr5 last season in an 8d and I am having problems With the toe cap and the width of my foot. My feet are not fitting properly. So, unfortunately I am going to have to sell them and purchase a new pair. I recently purchased the one.9 skate for ice and love it. I was also sized at a 7.5 ee to fit my toe area. I have heard that the mission skates are fit like the supreme line. However, I was looking into the ac4 or the ac3. I have the wheels and bearings so this is no concern, but I need a stiff boot and would like some info on the stiffness and whether to spend the extra on the 3's or will the 4's suffice. Background is 30 yrs old, 5'7" and 185lbs. I skate 5-7 times a week indoors only. I would like to make this decision before nationals which are at the end of June ill be all set. Thanks guys in advance

Why don't you go with another pair of One.9 in the size that fits and convert them to roller using your existing chassis?

I thought about the convert, but I would be spending more than I wanted. 400 compared to 650 is a hard sell then to convert to rollers costs more than.

If you're going to be on the rink 5-7 days a week, I would tend to think you'd pay for the comfort as well as the performance the more expensive skate is going to provide. Or at least thats I how I justify my purchases.

why not get some T9's from Hockey Monkey? They have your size, are on clearance, are in your price range ($420) and are a very good skate for this money. Hands down a much superior skate to the ac3.

I had the T9's and the tow cap is narrower then a pair of Bauer XR4's I borrowed. I have tried a pair of AC1's and had a similar issue with the toe cap. These were all standard width. While trying to find an inline skate that fitted my feet (strange shape) I also tried RBK 10k, Mission BOSS, Alkali CA7's. I had to purchase all of these as we don't have a skate store within 1000km's of where I Live.

It wasn't till I went for a rec skate on my ice skates (Supreme range) that I realised they fit so well and I wanted something that fit the same way.

I then got a pair of Supreme one.6 skates and converted them. Hands down these boots fit my feet better then anything I have ever tried for inline. \

And the point to my rambling is that if you have an ice boot that fits well, do a conversion. If you don't want to spend the same money as the One.9's look at a pair of One.7's etc, or better yet treat yourself to a new Ice boot and convert your current pair.

I did not even know hockey monkey had the t9's! Thanks for the heads up. I want to try them on first to get an idea. I tried some alkalis after my game today and the toe box fit very well and I like the heel lock system. Long story short, buying new skates is a tough decision. When I bought my one.9's I went back and forth forever and in the end hands down the best skate I have had in a long time.

Personally the Alkali boot has been the best inline skate I have ever used. Straight frame is what I like but the skate fits very well and molds just as good. With the amount of time you are on the rink I would suggest getting a higher end boot(CA7-RPD or T9/AC2/AC1).

That again just makes it more important that you need a higher end boot. The time you are on them and weight, its worth it to spend the money now rather than 6 months from now on a second pair.

Yeah, that is the biggest issue as I am not a small guy with my frame being 185lbs. The boots typically wear quite quickly.
