Widow broke - Help me pick a new curve.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

The warrior widow I bought a month ago broke at the heel of the blade within 26 days so I'm sending it in for warranty. Warrior is giving me a new DT1 so I'm thinking of trying a new curve. I have been using a bauer backstrom curve (Warrior Kopitar/Draper) but I need a lower lie on my stick so I would like some help choosing from Warrior's selection of lie 4 curves.

I am going to start playing as a winger and would like a stick that can help me stick handle and take harder shots. I expect I will be taking a lot more wrist shots than slapshots. I have had an easy time placing my shots with the backstrom curve. I have used the bauer PM9 and can place my shots with that too but I have to "work harder" on lifting the puck.

I hope that is enough to go on. I was looking at the Warrior W88 Zetterberg curves and W08 Kovalchuk curves. If anyone has any recommendations, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I love the Vanek. It doesn't have as much loft as the Kopi but more than a PM9.

Do you mean that on the rma form they have those listed? I belive you put in what your stick is and not what stick you want back.

No, I put in my widow in the RMA form and then I called their phone support and they said they had no more Widows so they would give me a DT1 so I asked if I could change flexes and the lady said sure!

how come there isnt a RAF for Canadians? I know Warrior does their warranty returns through their authorized dealers, but would we (canadians) receive the same treatment (Return a widow and get a covert) at lets say Sportcheck?

I came from a P88 to a Vanek in the Widow after reading an LTR from Chadd.

It took one night to get used to it. Liked it so much I ordered another.

The P92, Kopitar was too open for me.

I'm a big fan of the Gionta personally, which is the only toe curve I've ever really liked. Low lie, not a lot of rocker, a bit open but not much, a toe curve but not a meat hook. Love it for shooting, stick handling, passing, everything.

l've used the Savard/Burrows curve for years and recently changed to the Gionta which is a big difference - going from heel to toe curve. I think it's important to have the curve located where most of your shots come from - so heel for slappers and toe for wristers - at least in the case of getting loft on the shot and it coming off cleanly. I've just gotten a couple Widow Zetterberg's - which seems like a nice compromise between the two.
