Bauer APX 2 vs. X100: Fit differences?

Recommended Posts

Just tried on both these models today. The APX 2 was way too narrow for my foot. However, the X100 felt a wee bit wider and my foot felt less in a vice. Shouldn't they fit pretty much exactly the same?

Anyone try both these models on and notice any differences?

APX2 is a Vapor, X100 is a Supreme skate - different lines, different fits. Loads of information on that in this forum already (search engine) or in the skate line insights from IW @ youtube

Zjack. Link you posted didn't work. Yes, the X100 is a Vapor skate. Just can't figure out why the X100 would fit much different than the APX 2. Part of it would be because I tried on a 6.5D in the APX 2, and a 7.0D in the X100. That can't be the only reason.

They didn't have a 6.5 In the X100.

Anyone else know much about these two models?

Whops, my bad....got my models confused, damn the bauer naming :)

iirc: the APX1 (wider forefoot, toecap) the fit was different fit than the X7.0 I'd say the same goes for x100 (which is x:60 -> X7.0 -> x100 iirc).

The X100 felt wider than my old X:60's in the forefoot and the toecap.

Would the X100's be closer to the original APX's in that regard?

In terms of depth, I failed the pencil test badly in the original APX, but only failed it by a bit in the X100.

the x90 is the descendant of the x:60, the original apx would be closest to the x100, for the most part they are the similar with modern tweaks. i believe the lasts are the same, but because of the difference in material how that translates to fit differs.

Yeah, that is likely some of the reason. The larger size of the X100 will have put your foot slightly back into a wider part of the boot and the size 7 would have also had a larger toe cap than the 6.5 would.

Also, I've been find the APX2 to be fitting narrower than the old APX did. I've had several people that have upgraded their APX to the APX2 and have had a lot of fit issues going to the same size in the new skate. So since the X100 is also based on the original APX, if there is indeed a bit of width difference between teh new and old APX, then that could be making a difference in the feel as well.
