How do I make a belly guard extension?

Recommended Posts

After much consideration and deliberation, I decided to go with the CCM CL Shoulder Pads. I am a sweater; whenever I work out or exercise, I have to ring my shirt out afterward over a drain or garbage can. So, the only pad that could stay dry (it won't keep me dry, but at least I will not be putting on wet shoulder pads at tournaments when we play 2 games in a day) on me is the CL.

My biggest gripe with this pad is the short chest protector. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fashion an extension to give me an extra 3-4 inches of belly coverage? I wish I had a sheet of U Foam laying around, or a spare belly guard, but neither is available. I will post in the Gear Exchange as I will pay a few bucks for this item.

Got old shoulders? Cut off their belly and chest protection and fix them to your CLs, just down an inch or two, three, whatever you need.

I've been doing this for years, and what works best for me after finding the ideal placement is two holes through both pads (find a nice meaty part of pad or plastic) and force an awl through them. A hockey lace tied between the two keep everything in order and haven't failed on me through a couple years

:edit: Big fan of the handle

I actually do not have an old pair of shouldies; but I ought to manage with some belly guards being shipped out. Your handle is stellar as well.

Can't help with the belly guard problem I'm afraid. Perhaps you should try to pinpoint the source/reasoning of your perspiration problems. That and/or invest in some high-quality moisture wicking garments.
