which stick would you recommend: TO, 20K, CL, DT1, RS

Recommended Posts

yeah go to a store if you can just to hold the sticks. i for one cant do the boxy shafts that come on the ccm, totalones, and easton rs sticks. they feel so cumbersome to me the stick feel unwieldy. I tried out the apx and loved the smaller rounded shaft for a lot of things. then tried the widow (dt1 has the same dimensions) and it was boxier but still rounded enough that it fit my hands. the extra size though helped it fill my hands and keep it from torquing and turning on me during shots faceoffs etc etc.

once again though, those are how my hands feel. I have BIG palms and smaller fingers so your mileage may vary. wait youre in europe, your kilometerage may vary.

I didn't want to post anything cause I was starting to sound like a Bauer fan boy but what mcne0101 said is right on the money. Best blades on the APX and Nexus in the last year IMHO. I am going to another trade show this friday so that may change but last year the Bauers ruled. Also the Nexus is the lightest stick out there at the moment.

My Nexus has lasted the year. Tip of the blade is beat up but the stick does not want to die.

Ok I tried out all the sticks at a trade show yesterday. No joke. Of the ones you have mentioned I would go 20K. I was surprised, not a big RBK stick fan in the past. Trade shows rule.

Thanks again for all the Input.

Got a Pro Stock 20K today, SV, grip and traditional shaft geometry. The other option I had was a One90 dressed as TO which I didn't like because of the curve and the very square toe.

6 more weeks until I can test it in a hockey camp.

DT1 and TO still on my wish list.

The DT1 is just amazing. Looking for a Prostock

There's quite a few on ebay, but oddly enough they are all lefties...

Well Zetterberg is a leftie so his prostocks will be leftie. Just a fact of the game unlike baseball where a bat is a bat no matter what side you hit from. Plus I'm happy with his w88 retail curve, I believe his prostock curve is very deity and that may be too open for me. I would still like to see what's up with his stick, like how low his grip tape really goes but I'll save my money for other things.

I may be a little late to the party but if you are coming from old Easton woddies and are concerned about puck feel I am suprised no one suggested a top of the line shaft with some wood blades. Maybe just a little too old fashioned and I know that most of the manufacturers are really cutting back on shaft blade combos.

I have a Total One original and while I usually don't like mid-kick sticks, it feels alot more whippier than my low-kick Vapor 6.0 of the same flex. It's really weird.

That being said, that is a bonus for me and it's extremely durable. I've tried to break my stick out of frustration many times and it holds up really well.

since the T90 is on Sale here right now i ordered one and got it today. I will send it back immediately because the shaft geometry is just too square. It feels uncomfortable and I could already tell that my hands (not the biggest palms) would hurt if I'd use it for more than 10 minutes. Wasn't too impressed with the graphics either :(

The only downside on the Total One I feel is the shaft texture. I really don't like the tackiness and often practice without gloves on in my garage since it's extremely hot. It's a great stick though, you may not be able to find it now but the NXG is excellent.
