What are you using now? What do you and what do you not like? What else are you doing with the stick? Faceoffs, corner battles etc?

I would say stay away from older warriors as they tend to be fragile, and when you say in front of the net I can't tell you how much slashing I get alone in that area. I would also say maybe a low kick stick would suit you better bc you want faster little snaps and such to get the puck in.

I'm an advocate for the warrior dt1 stick, it's way more durable than past warrior sticks and it has been helping me in past such situations. It also has a nice diamond texture so even though I don't like grip it helps me not get the stick knocked out of my hands. The rest of the covert line is also getting good reviews. Widows from last year are on clearance now but they didn't last long for me.

The Bauer apx stick is great too and the elastech they put in the stick does help it last and keep it's pop. I'm not sure if the lower levels of vapor sticks have the elastech or not. The apx2 is just around the corner as well so if you can get through summer hockey with what you have then maybe in the fall jump on that, or some of the clearence apx1 sticks.

ok so you use a bauer stick with the p88 kane curve and youre looking into different curves and not necessarily sticks. oh ok, i gotcha now.

yeah the p88 kane is a bit closed, i never had a problem with it but i could see how others would want more lift close into the net. i do think those kremlin extreme curves may be a bit too much and it will be a big difference imho.

thing is that it's really really hard to lift the puck with an ovie curve iw you're not on your forehand, and since you're in the front of the net, this is the place where you have to be able to do it all, if you're in for a kremlin, I'd try a P92 at first and see how it goes and then go with the Kremlin.

Imho a P106 is the way to go, but it's all personal preference anyway

I went from Sakic to p88 back to Sakic to Ovi pro to p08. I really liked the p88 but it didn't quite have the loft I wanted. I'm not sure if I will stick with the p08 but am enjoying it so far. Getting the puck up in close is much easier.

I play in a similar position, and still use the p88 and p92 and can still roof the puck from the top of the goalie crease. The p92 is a more open than the p88, but the transition between the two is not as significant compared to the kremlin.

In the Bauer lines P92 is a good pattern to get loft on tight in spaces. What model stick are you using (Vapor, Supreme, Nexus)?

I'm using the supreme. I've also been using intermitate sticks to get more whip on my shots. (I'm shorter skinny guy) basical I just need something to shovel the puck over the goalies leg pads. I'll look at the p92.

one of the problems with bauer sticks is also the lie, one of the reasons I like warriors smaller lie.

warriors lie ratings are a little off compared to how others measure them. EX: the p88 kane and the w88 zetterberg are the exact same pattern, curve, lie (i had them both and put them together so it was all scientific and all) but the w88 says something like a 4 lie and the p88 is a 6. just different way of measuring,

Also before going with a new stick try lifting it with just the toe, i find with that blade in close you need to really just toe flick it to get it up in a hury.

It's not really Warrior vs. Others. Each company has its own unique scale. The p88 and w88 are very similar but not "exactly" the same, the w88 has slightly more heel (being extremely picky here) I snapped these pics last year:

It's a clone. Directly from the horse's mouth. It might be the angle that you are taking the pictures from. The camera isn't directly above both curves

^ this. The only thing that I could discern from the two when I did it was the warrior seemed the have the tiniest of hairs of a lower lie. This may have also been bc I was holding them at the end and the sticks were about a quarter inch different in length.

I went through this dilemma for a bit too.... Although some curves and lies, and flexes actually DO help lift, straighten and handle pucks differently, the ONLY true way to accomplish what you want is by proper technique and practice. I FINALLY had someone show my why I couldn't lift a backhander top shelf. It did WONDERS to my game. Just sayin'..... over analyzing can be frustrating.

Right now I have a kane stick its, meh. Just seams like alot of times I cant get the puck up when I'm close to the net.

If you can't hit the crossbar from the top of the crease with a P88, then you just need to take some time and practice. You should be able to do it with any curve, I have no problem doing it with a PM9.

One day youllyou'll have to show me your technique. I can backhand it decently but all too often it lacks the power and lift I need. Maybe a thread in the how tos or post game forums.

The reason most people's backhands suck is because they don't practice it. In warm ups how many backhands do you take? Everyone is too busy trying to ring a clapper off the crossbar. If you would just focus on practicing a backhand it would improve. I always try to shelf a backhand from right on top of the crease then gradually move out from there.

When I have the ice time, my favorite drill is to place a dozen or so pucks along the edge of the crease and go around the circle trying to roof each one as quickly as possible with no windup or stick handling. Then I go through again on the backhand. It helps with roofing and making your hands quicker.

Yeah so I've been working on trying to flip the puck up on top of the crease with the p88, getting much better so blade curve must notbe as important or as game changing as I once thought.

curve can make it easier because you have more of the blade to work with. That said, its not a game changer. If you practice a ton you'll have a good backhand regardless of curve.
