Blade length performance tuning?

Recommended Posts

When taking a look at the skate information of the Pittsburgh Penguins I noticed that most players have a blade length of

280mm and more (up to 306). Is that because they have such huge shoe sizes or are they tuning / increasing the blade length
to get more power of of their strides?

Our best selling size runner to average Joes is 280. I would think the NHL simply recruits big guys and that probably equates to bigger feet.

They arent sizing up, they're just big guys. But you do realize that, generally, a 280 is a size 9/9.5 skate and 288 is size 10/10.5.

So if you look at that chart, the majority of them are a size 9-10.5 skate which is pretty average.

Big guys, I'm 5'9 and wear a 7 in bauer which is 263 holder, closest person to me is Vitale in a 272 so he is likely between size 8-9 skate, but you can fit a bigger holder on your skate if you are on the high end of a size, if I wore a 7.5 I bet I could get a 272 on it which is typically on a 8 or 8.5 retail skate

It says on the chart Iginla wears CCM skates but isn't he sponsored by Easton. I looked it up on Google Images and he has CCM skates that is strange.
