E700 return

If it doesn't fit your head go get one that does. If you're saying it as it doesn't look cosmetically good then screw it, I rather look like a doof than have an incident that leads to a bad injury.

Nah it doesn't fit my head which leads to little protection, guy fitted me there and said it looked "great". The thing stays on my head but if I ever got hit I can bet it would fly off, and it's the right size lol.

I still would like to try the E700 but I have to see if my pro-shop has any.

Looks like they aren't on hockeygiants site anymore.

LOL! They must have read my previous posts, because they were still on their site when I wrote them.

This is not the first time that I have heard this rumor on the E700. I was at Pro Hockey Life with my son looking to replace his 8K. He really liked the look of the E700 and it fit well. But when we asked the rep on the floor he said he would go with another helmet because in the testing of all the latest top of the line helmets. The E700 shattered when it had a puck shot at it. The rest did not. Now this might be a design feature. But when he told me this I got my son the RE-AKT. At $160 I can't be buying helmets cause it took a puck off it and cracked or shatters. They should be able to withstand a sertain amount of impact. I think someone on here needs to test this to see if it's true.

This was the reason I went with the Re-Akt, its a great lid.

If the puck is shot with enough velocity to potentially cause cracks in the shell, you should be replacing it anyway. Even if the shell isn't cracked, the EPP foam has failed. That type of foam breaks down internally when subjected to significant force. You may not be able to see it, but the damage is there and it will offer little, if any, protection on the next impact.

I do a lot of road bike racing and in the process have gone through a few bike helmets that use EPP foam. Chadd is correct about the impact, it doesn't take that much. I got hit by 2 cars and both helmets had internal cracks. Also, another time I broke a helmet in a small bike group ride when the guy in front went down. There was hardly any impact at all and it had a small crack in the foam.Bike helmets are pretty open, so its easy to see if there is a crack, but I would think you could have a crack in the EPP under the Plastic shell and not even know about it,

Giro, the maker of my helmets would offer a crash replacement on them. It was about 60% off list and they use your broken helmet for analysis. Are hockey companies offering this as well?

All and all they are great helmets, esp if you want something lite, but for the protection of my brain I'll pass on the EPP. This is my own $0.02, and opinion.

I was at pure hockey's tent sale this weekend and I saw something which I guess amounted to a special sale flyer at the checkout desk on the E700 (beyond what was their normal in store 20%). I asked the cashier why they were running a special on that particular model and he said that they had seen a lot of issues with the screw mounts at the front of the helmet cracking. He didn't specify what "a lot" meant but if it's a chain wide mark down then I'd assume theres a high enough incident rate to cause it.
