Matte Finish Stick

Recommended Posts

Anyone use a stick with a matte finish? I'm looking for a new stick. I use a Bauer One85 right now, I wish i could get another but cannot find it anywhere so looking for something similar and have been looking at the One.9. Does the matte finish make a big difference? I'm unsure if I will like it or not, my stick right now has the clear coating on it. Or anyone know whats the closest bauer stick to the One85?

I have three Harrow 300 shafts with the matte finish and I love them. There's not too much grip, and there's not no grip on the stick (if that makes sense  ). I've used glossy coated sticks and grip sticks in the past, and the matte is by far the best (in my opinion obviously). Plus, the price tag on the Harrow's are hard to beat as well. I've had the one shaft for about three years now and it's still holding up strong. Needed to give it a little paint job on the bottom, but other than that, no complaints.

I like the Velvet grip from warrior and the Harrow matte, very similar and it is the best of both worlds for me.

Yes warrior velvet grip is awesome

Agreed. Had the grip on my old Reebok stick and it peeled so easily. Warrior velvet feels great.

I have a Nexus 1000 no grip/matte finish...not a big deal switching between it and my grip/clear finish sticks, only takes a couple stickhandles to adjust. Shaft shape is what messes me up, I mostly use squared shaft sticks (Nexus/Supreme/Mako) and switching to a rounded shaft is a bigger adjustment than the finish on the stick.

The way I see it, if you really like a stick you can recreate a matte, grip, or clear coating with a little spray paint. Yes, there's no reason to get a stick in the finish that you don't like, but it's fixable. A can of specific spray paint can fix it.

The Warrior velvet grip is pretty nifty and I'm not sure that it can be exactly recreated, but dang close.
