How do I replace damaged eyelets?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I've had a browse but unable to find a retailer in UK who sells replacement Bauer eyelets. Are they available, if so could I fit them myself or does anybody have another suggestion?

Thanks very much

Eyelets are eyelets, not necessarily specific to a manufacturer. Unless you want to get a 100% match with what you already have, for appearances sake.

If you can't find a shop that does eyelets (I recommend that a shop does them so that they can crimp the two halves together properly), a good shoe repair or leather repair shop should be able to help you.

Here it's most decent pro shops, a not skate specific repair. My sons CCM U+12s and my old Kor Shift2s have both had many an eyelet replaced over the last few years. The Shifts2s rusted pretty badly on the inside and the U+12s basically disintegrate over time.

I even had a local EQM insert a piece of plastic in between the layers of the skate in order to fix a ripped eyelet. Just replacing the eyelet should be possible for each LHS that has a crimper.

+1 for the a shoe repair store. If you find a good one, get friendly with the staff as most of the time if it's a simple pop out and replace, they'll do it for your while you wait. The guy by me has only ever charged me for the eyelet itself...

On a side note, does anyone know where you can buy eyelets that would fit hockey skates? I've looked before but have a) come up empty on the sizes or b) found the right ones but needed to order 1,000 before the place would even talk to me...

Thanks guys, contacted Bauer several times via social media but surprisingly no response, see eyelets on blackstone but don't need 250. Thanks anyway.
