Neoprene Elbow Sleves to hold your elbow pads up

Recommended Posts

I don't wear a long sleve shirt when I play and I have CCM CL elbows and by the third period due to sweat my bottom hand elbow slides down and starts to affect my wrist range of motion no matter how tight I wear it. I was watching Blackhawks 36 and saw Brian Bickell and others wearing these red neoprene sleves over there elbows to keep them from sliding any idea where to get these? Check out the link 3rd pic down of Bickell he also wears a pair of CCM CL's you can see the red stick out over the black elbow pad.

IIRC what you see is a long sleeve performance shirt/base layer with the ends of the sleeves rolled back up over the elbow pads.

Shirt, pads, tuck & roll.

Looks like that to me too. You could always buy a long sleeve shirt and cut off the ends of the sleeves and use that. I'm sure you can find something on closeout if you want to go that route.

I have really old missions that have that sleeve built in on the inside. It's a very nice feature imho and the volcro is shot but it helps it stay in place as is. I've even been tempted to cut off the straps all together except the stretchy material is now starting to get holes after 10+ years of and me pulling on them to get it on. It also saves the rough side of the Velcro on the straps from rubbing against my arm as I wear a short sleeve compression shirt while playing.

Does the tuck and roll meathod hold the elbow pads in place more and prevent sliding or is it more for style?

For holding it in place and if you care, style. You could just not roll your jersey sleeves up and it wouldn't be noticeable.

And, at least with USA Hockey, the rules state that elbow pads have to be covered. Rolling your jersey sleeve to the point where the pad is exposed is actually supposed to warrant a warning/penalty.
