kidconnor 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 I had a tryout yesterday and it was my first time on the ice since last april. I noticed that when i was skating hard it was bugging my groin on both legs. after i got off the ice my groin area was very achy sore on both legs and in some movments i would get a sharp pain all the way from my pelvic bone to my knee. i was wearing skates that where too big by about 1 size could that have anything to do with it? and does this sound like my muscles are just tired since i havent used them in so long? or is it a serious injury?? I don't know if ishould go back on the ice or not. another thing to add is that i had a previous injury about 4 months ago but the sports therapist said it was fixed and i was fine to train at 100 % and also im 15 thank you for your advice?! chippa13 1844 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 You can't expect your skating muscles to be 100% after being off skates for so long. At the least you've got very sore muscles, at the worst you could have torn something calling on muscles that weren't ready for the job. The only way to know for sure is to talk to a doctor. Souldriver 64 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 Above.I really hope you stretched at least a little before going out. I ALWAYS stretch my lower back, neck, wrists/lower arms, legs and groin.Doing butterflies before the game makes my leg feel so much better to begin with and pulled ground are aweful things.Give yours a day or two and do light stretches. No pushing anything and if it hurts, stop. After that I would consult a doctor. Don't do what I did and put ice hot there, it WILL spread to other areas that are a bit more sensative. A2rhino 63 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 I have had a lot of experience with this. Being that I have torn everything from lower abdominal, hip and most recently my adductor longus (GROIN) muscle. As stated above, you can’t expect to be 100% after not skating for a while and certainly not after a previous injury. Being that your younger is a plus in regards to a better chance of recovery. Take it easy, listen to your body and be sure to spend time doing off ice rehab a few times a week. I would say NOT to stretch before but warm-up first and then lightly static stretch. Ice is your friend. Again, listen to your body and not your ego. walk before you run. Best of luck to you. If not, it is not a seriously pulled muscle. I have badly pulled adductors, and there is extensive bruising when this happens.
Trooper 8 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 See a doc if it persists, nobody here can diagnose what is going on.
