APX Width expansion

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a set of APX's in 9.5 D. My last skate was a Supreme One.6 in 9.5 D and fit me comfortably after baking and 5hrs of skating.

I have baked the APX and it fits lengthwise properly. However it is slightly narrow at the end of the metatarsals.

I felt that the E was too wide, I may have been wrong about that.

My question is, if after I skate/break them in, and if they still feel too narrow. What methods should I try and use to widen that area in the boot.

The APX has a special insole with "wings" in the exact location of my discomfort. Has anyone here removed those wings? Should I modify the insole or just try super feet?

plus a .6 has no moldable material and little to no break in time where apx's are pro level skates and will take more then 5 hours to break in. give them a good 20-25 hours of skating for them to really reach their potential

Your APX skates WILL expand more with play and use. I have ALWAYS used wide width skates until I switched to APXs. I went with a 6.5D width and that 3d molded process really formed to my feet better than any other E width skate I've owned. It took a bake and a few games to get there. Try super thin socks as well. SWEAT and pressure breaks in skates, don't be so quick to punch, unless the hot spot is totally unbearable.
