Considering a Blade Pattern change- Zetterberg (p88) to Burrows

Recommended Posts

I want to know from those who have a lot of experience with the Burrows curve or its likenesses, how it will play differently from a 88. I have pretty much solely used p88 curves since i started playing regularly again but feel its time to branch out as I gear up to get a new twig here soon.

I am looking for something that will sit a little more flat for me on the ice if possible. I get a lot of tape wear and damage towards the heel of my blades.

I am pretty much open to all manufacturers right now, so offer up your suggestions if youd like. I take primarily wristers and if i miss my target its usually to the left of where I am trying to shoot.

that does help a bit, thanks!

might look into getting another diablo or something similar just to check it out. i think the savard pattern is the same as the burrows correct?

also a question that was never answered on that thread is about the rocker. Thats where i feel i am having some of my issues with the p88, is the burrows less rockered? If it was answered on there, i missed it =(

Savard is identical to Burrows. Can't help with the Warrior zett rocker versus Burrows as I don't have Warrior Zetterberg curves anymore and can't really remember how the rocker was set up. Tape wear, accuracy and speed is primarily down to technique. IMHO you are better off finding a good shooting coach and getting some pointers, the answer isn't found in trying another stick if the basics aren't right.

W88 has more rocker. The Burrows/Savard will have more blade on the ice if the lie is correct for you.

I feel like the lie, if you go strictly by a number perspective, will be better on the Burrows. How does it play lie wise compared to the Z. I feel like part of my issue stems from often shooting with the puck closer to my toe and maybe not getting enough blade on the puck creating almost a knuckling effect at times, but this just might be me over-analyzing.

Might also want to try cutting your stick a little bit shorter.

I've tried doing this and wasn't very happy with the results, but it was with a different curve (Mikens Iginla clone on a MV3). I went about an inch shorter than I have been cutting (53.5 opposted to 54.5) A few things have scared me away from further experimenting with cutting down a stick and trying something with a lie that plays lower. I play Defense a lot too, and a lot of my game is poke checking, its probably one of the things I am best at, that and my feet control in terms of kicking pucks away when people do get past my poke check. I also sometimes have troubles grabbing passes that are a little too much in front of me, and seem to prefer stick handling a little out in front of me compared to closer in

Savard/Burrows will play about .5 lower
