Volume issues in APX but not 7.0

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have similar experience?

Currently skating on 7.0 with no volume issue, pass pencil test but APX whole different story.

Both APX1 and APX2 I fail test around 3 & 4th eyelet, causing pain/pressure on top of my foot on that area.

I tried on 10.0 EE in Vapor APX2 and Vapor x100. The x100 seemed more comfortable, even as the salesman was espousing how great the APX2 was. The x100 seemed to have more room in the toe box, and my feet are a bit wide'ish for Vapors. I have since read that the x100 provides a more "traditional" fit. Not sure if that is in reference to Vapor tradition or non-Vapor tradition or what. Point is, that your observations seem accurate and not that outlandish regarding variation along a skate line.

I did try the X90, and they feel like they have more volume then my current 7.0

Thought the thick tongue would make for volume issues, but it fit comfortably and I had volume left over

I ended up with x100s with the intention to buy APX2s

For me the apx2 felt more narrow especially in the toe box and a tad less volume than the x100.

X90 felt close to my X 6.0s fit wise

And were you swimming in the NXG/One.9?

Swimming where? Depth wise no.

Last and width wise yes, because they're built on an over-sized

I thought they were pretty close in volume aspect

Guess the APX boot if it works for you great, if it doesn't then move on to another option.

Might play into PART of the reason you still see so many guys in now X90/7.0's boots compared to APX. Otherwise they'd all have made the switch.

I have BOTH the X7.0 and the APX skates. NO, you will not get any extra volume as they break in. The fit is very different. I too fail the test on the APX yet pass on my 7.0s. I just loose lace the top few eyelets on my APXs.

The APXs molded to my feet much better, creating a more solid, comfortable fit for me. The tongue is kinda weak, and when combining that with less volume does create some BITE on the upper front of my feet. Try moleskin in that area if it's unbearable. Rebaking will NOT help. APXs are a lower volume skate.

EDIT* Both my skates are 6.5D..
