Might have switched to many factors.

So I recently picked up a 100 flex warrior widow zetterberg curve. Before I was using an 85 flex dolomite in a gionta curve. Upon using the widow I have had a hard time getting a hard high shot, or accurate for that matter. It seemed like every shot would hit the goalie in the chest. When using the gionta I could pick corners(sort of). I can't tell if the stick is too stiff or if it is the dagger taper I'm not used too.

I think I tend to shoot off the toe. Should I be shooting else where on the blade. Btw this is roller hockey sp the puck is lighter.

My guess is that the flex is your issue. If you are hitting the goalie in the chest, you are obviously elevating it to some degree. As for the dagger taper, you can't rush the shot. You have to let the stick load and release. Make sure your motion is smooth and you feel the stick load fully as you start to come forward. Moving the puck back slightly to the middle of the blade should help as well.

I mean I can lift it but not to the extent that I could with the gionta. The gionta the puck just naturally rolled to the sweet spot and I could let it rip. With the zetterberg now that I think of it, when I shot I would frequently have the puck roll off the bladee as I shot, sending a nice slow pass to the goalie.

I think you may have made a good point. With the dolomite I feel that I rushed my shot and never really leaned into my shots. The few times that I got the puck off just right it seemed to just fly. Do you think that the flex being too high is a lost cause or just something to get used to. I'm a relatively heavy dude so I think I should be able to make use of it. Especially because, with the exception of my inability to shoot, this stick is my favorite one to date.

Weight is pretty much irrelevant when it comes to flex. It is your ability to transfer energy that should determine your flex. I tend to shoot with the puck starting slightly behind me and pressing down slightly into the ice as I begin my shot. That helps load the stick before I visibly begin my shooting motion. With a widow, the key is timing your release with the kick of the stick.

I've run into the same issues in the past when I had different sticks. Same curve in my case but one was a 110 mid-flex stick and the other was a 85 flex low kickpoint stick. Every time I'd jump from one to the other my shot was off for a while. Drove me nuts. The 110 was a stick I picked up just getting back into hockey so I didn't know what I was looking for. Mistake on my part. Now I know what I like so it's easier to just stick with it. Frustrating at first for sure.

yeah with the low kick warrior sticks they take a little to get used to but one you do its a very easy loading and shooting stick. like chadd mentioned get used to when and where the stick flexes and kicks first then worry about level bc that will come much more natural once youre used to the stick. i used a widow and dt1 with the w88 zetterberg curve and i can hit wherever i want 9 out of 10 times.

I should also mention i started cutting my stick short as i feel more natural with it and playing with my longer backup sticks the puck usually flies too high.
