M11 pro vs. IMS 11.0

Recommended Posts

I have a year old M11 pro that is white with the black vents and a white cage on it. My question is should i get an IMS 11.0 for christmas, that would be black. I know they're virtually the same but would you guys ask for that as a gift? I dunno if i wanna switch over to a black helmet which is why im considering getting it and is the poron foam and extra venting worth it. What's you guys' take on it?

Isn't the big difference between the M11 (a.k.a. the IMS 7.0) and the IMS 11.0 the internal padding? Sure-the vents are slightly different. I wear the IMS 7.0 (same exact vents) and dig it. Maybe I would do the black one if you are going to do light and dark uniforms. If so, then get it so you are matchy matchy.

Your current helmet certification has several years left. It just sounds like you don't quite know what you want for X-mas. I dunno. You can never have too many spares, as you never know when something catastrophic can happen to equipment (stolen, damaged, etc.). Why not?

I'm looking forward to Christmas dinner and pond hockey time with my kids and their friends. I wouldn't mind having my 19yo body again, but at 38.5, today is the best day of my life. Tomorrow looks pretty great, too.

If you already have the M11 and like it, keep rockin' it. If your parents are looking for another gift idea for you, how about a punch card for more ice time at the local rink?

Top of the line Bauer hockey protective gear and helmets use Poron XRD foams on the inside of their helmets. Triclosan is the anti-bacterial featured in the FDA press release a couple of days ago. After I read the FDA story, I googled triclosan and several of the links returned connected it with Poron XRD and Reakt helmets. I've attached the article.

From Forbes 12/16/13 "There appears to be little or no evidence that antibacterial soaps and household products help prevent us from being exposed to germs, and they may even pose significant health risks, said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in a
today.

The chemicals used in the products, particularly triclosan and triclocarban, have come under fire as a result of research showing they may be aiding the growth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria as well as disrupting hormone levels, particularly in women and children. In fact, some experts have called the antibacterial chemicals a public health threat."

Go to these 2 links to see the products triclosan is in, Microban is the company that makes it.

I found the IMS 11.0 to be extremely comfortable with the Poron foam. It also was just the helmet that fit my head the best. This should mean nothing to you though.. Try it out and make a decision
