Adding padding inside of gloves

Recommended Posts

Tried using the search bar but couldn't find anything.

Earlier today I purchased a pair of gloves from a team sale. At the time they felt good when I had put them on. Right size, decent palms, clean external, you get the point. But after wearing them at practice I had noticed how loose they are. The padding that goes over the back of the hand is completely crushed to the point where it's doing next to nothing. I have a retail model of the APX Pros that have a much tighter fit and would like for the prostock ones to fit the same way. Does anyone know what the best way would be to go about decreasing the volume of the gloves would be?

That sounds like a great fix. I too have a pair of Ranger 4rolls that are huge. I added a sponge to the inside for a quick fix and it seems to work.

Well after a trip to Joann, I needed to improvise.

Aside from the employee looking at me like I had 8 eyes when I asked if they had speedy stitchers, and their lack of performance fabric, they had everything else that I needed.

I ended up just cutting 1 piece of 1/2 inch foam to the shape of the existing pad over the back of the hand, and one piece that goes over the thumb portion. After cutting them I adhered the Velcro to both halves and stuck them in the gloves. They feel much tighter now and I'm hoping this will be enough to be a permanent solution.

Thanks for the reply

Ol' biddies at JoAnn always look at men like they have 8 eyes when you walk into their store. They can't understand why anyone would be in there and not be interested in making a nice calico dress that would be right at home on the set of Little House on the Prairie.

"What are you making?"
"You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you."

For performance fabrics, try:

Rose City Textile Fabrics:

RCT is probably more likely to have the performance fabric you want...and also more willing to cut really small pieces.

Tandy Leather or a farm store would be more likely sources for a speedy stitcher.

Thank you JYA. This was exactly what I needed. I was about to sew a wristband to my liner, but your idea was waaay better.
