The Science of a Slapshot (From Smarter Every Day)

Recommended Posts

Cool video analyzing the physics of slapshots:

Features a player from University of Alabama-Hunstville. The video hows how usage can impact a stick's flex performance over time (from an 85 to a 57). He's using a Covert Warrior DT1 (2013?), possibly both an 85 flex and a 100 flex.

I believe thats a new dt1lt. also i wouldnt say their flex chart is accurate as a 100 flex is not what i call whippy but i realize thats probably just for show.

Though overall i liked the vid and good first post, welcome to the forums!

Interesting idea, but a lot of bad stuff in there. The bad stuff as I see it:

1. Used sticks instead of new ones when measuring the flex

2. Using weights instead of a force gauge

3. It looks like the guy tried to break the stick, the form was very different on that shot

4. "...doing a slap shot."

5. Sticks with a relocated kickpoint shouldn't be measured by the force in the middle. It's not really applicable to the performance.
