MOV 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 I've gone almost 20 years with no facial protection, but a recent broken nose has me changing my tune a bit. So I'm looking for what I'd call the "least noticeable" visor I can get. Not least noticeable in appearance, per se, but least noticeable/obtrusive TO ME, personally, to wear. I don't want one of those super-low profile ones that barely covers my nose, but really just a standard size "pro" style one. Aviator/wave/curved is fine, if that helps decrease fogging from my giant shnoz; otherwise the standard straight cut is perfectly acceptable. I just don't want one that feels too large for my face.Anyway, my biggest concern is visibility — the least amount of "warping" around any edges, and the least fogging. I was originally just comparing the Bauers and Oakleys, but I recently came across some praise for the cheap Trons. So if these were my choices, is there any BIG difference between them? Any have particularly clearer or less warped view, fog any better or worse? Any way bigger/taller than the others (hard to find some size specs) or are they all pretty similar in size? i.e. the Oakley Aviators appear taller and come down the face further, so I'm not as interested in those.http://www.hockeytron.com/tron-hocke...sor-Clear.htmlhttp://www.hockeytron.com/tron-hocke...sor-Clear.htmlhttp://www.inlinewarehouse.com/Bauer...age-BHPST.htmlhttp://www.inlinewarehouse.com/Oakle...age-VR903.htmlThanks! tml67 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Due to a recent facial injury, I've also been looking around for a visor or cage for facial protection. Here are some of the specs I've found.Bauer HDO Deluxe 3.75"Bauer Straight 3"Bauer Wave 3.5"Oakley VR910 Aviator Vents 4.5"Oakley VR924 Pro Straight Vents 4"Oakley VR903 Pro Straight 3.5"Oakley VR900 Pro Aviator 3.75"I tried on the Bauer HDO straight for one game. It will take some time to adjust. Does anyone notice the blurred vision with the line at the bottom of the visor. That line is in my direct view to the blade. Any suggestions to get around that? Taller visor and/or adjustments--move it up/down, back/forth?Thanks

MOV 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Thanks, I dug a bit too and can add to those specs and see where they kinda compare across each brand. I'm personally looking for the more "pro" style (a little smaller, less obtrusive... not the big 4" ones with vents at the top), so looking at those I've grouped them together by comparable size and style... slimmest to largest:SLIMMER- Oakley VR904 Straight Small (2.75" @ middle)- Tron S40 Aviator (2.75" @ middle)- Bauer Straight (3" @ middle)AVERAGE SIZE- Oakley VR901 Modified Pro Aviator (3" @ middle, 3.5" @ cheeks)- Bauer Wave (3" @ middle, 3.5" @ cheeks)- Oakley VR903 Pro Straight (3.5" @ middle)- Tron S30 Straight (3.5" @ middle)A BIT LARGER- Oakley VR900 Pro Aviator (3" @ middle, 3.75" @ cheeks)- Tron S50 Dominator (3.75"??? - size unknown, but looks to mimic the Oakley)So from the specs and pics I've found, I'd say the Trons are probably pretty close in size/style to the Oakleys. Not sure how the Trons compare visual-quality/fog/distortion wise to the Oakleys (they're just SO damn cheap! ) but to me they appear comparable in size and appearance. laserrobottime 149 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 I've worn the Oakley and the tron (straight small) and the clarity of the Oakley is worth the higher cost
iceman8310 106 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 have you taken a look at the vr 901 modified straight? you might like that or the oakley small straight. i use a pro stock kovy cut visor and a straight small. i love them
Chadd 916 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 I'm a big fan of the Oakley straight small, I used one for years. Rarely, if ever, did I have any kind of vision or fogging issue with any of them and those cases were always in extreme situations.try to tilt the visor a bit that may help. it has helped meLifting is usually the best way to cause fogging, as it can trap the rising heat. It's also a great way to reduce the protection of a visor, but I really don't want to get into that. To reduce fogging is actually to make sure that the visor is pulled straight out as far away from your face as possible. You want the air to be able to rise without contacting the visor. kazin 1 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 Not a single issue with the Tron straight cut. I used an Itech straight cut prior to that and have noticed no differences, save for the price tag. At the end of the day, I don't think you're really going to notice a speck on your visor when you're playing...but you will notice a $50+ difference in price. tml67 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2014 How is the optic quality on the Bauer HDO visor compared to the Oakley? I really like Bauer's quick clip system but if the optic is inferior, then I might just go with an Oakley visor.Does anyone know if the Bauer HDO Wave visor sells in a 2 pack replacement? I can't seem to find them anywhere online.
chippa13 1844 Report post Posted June 5, 2014 Bauer optics are comparable to Oakley. I went from the Oakley modified to Bauer HDO without batting an eye (pun intended).
