New tongues for my 16K

Love my 16K skates, HATE HATE HATE the tongues. I am getting lace bite from these things something FIERCE. I tried eBay for tongues, all I could find are the Nash tongues.

Recommendations?

Are the skates new or old?

If they're new, replacing the tongues won't do anything if they're an improper fit for your feet.

The best tongues come from the NHL team sales. Sometimes they'll have some left overs and sometimes you'll find them on eBay. Else, you're stuck with the generic A&R ones... that or you'll have to go the custom route. I know Scott from VH Footwear makes custom tongues for his custom skates, but I don't think he makes them for individual sale... but it doesn't hurt to ask: scott@vhfootwear.com or you can try: http://www.hockeyrepair.com/

Got the skates a week before Valentine's Day. I wear them about 6-8 hours per week. The tongue feels and looks collapsed in spots. I saw the Vapor APX 2 tongues and they look AWESOME!!!

Have you thought about just beefing up the tongue by gluing or stitching on a denser piece of plastic/rubber/padding as lacebite guard?

Try looking for donor skates on eBay. There are tons of late 90's vintage Bauer supreme skates cheap.

Look for the Supreme style tongue, 1000's and up. Find a pair within a size of your current skate, or larger if you want a longer tongue.

Feds apparently thinks they are. Going back to Graf, he brought along the APX2 tongue.

I just didn't know the heirarchy. The last pair of skates I bought (before my hiatus) were Supreme 90 and they were nearly top of the heap back in the day, not too long before the pic in your avatar, in fact!

I'm going to check Play it Again, as well. There are always a few rare gems amongst the junk heaps in that place.
