Fake MX3? Help Please!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, new to the forms. I am in need of some wisdom though. I just bought an MX3 Pro Stock off of eBay. It wasn't any huge deal, so I wasn't that skeptical. I mainly bought because of no taxes to save a few bucks. However, it just came today. I was immediately skeptical, as there are some weird things about it that I would not have thought would happen.

As you can see in the pictures, the graphic pattern on the blade is quite screwed up, very off.

-The griptac on the shaft is also kind of weird, it looks like it has air bubbles in it, but feels flat; not sure how well you can see this in the pictures.

-Also, I read that all Bauers have the color strip inside of the shaft indicating the flex?

-Lastly, the blade just looks off to me. Theres a weird black material on the end (in one of the pictures) that looks like something supposed to be cut off.

Other than these major things that stick out, the graphic looks good. I have never owned a Pro Stock, but I have several buddies that do and haven't heard of things like these happen.

Looks fake to me. Pro stock will usually have textual info on the front (in white) or at least show a name plate (or has a sticker that states what kind of stick it is)...

It looks like a faked retail stick. For example, pro stock sticks don't come with warranties. Also, Bauer will often list 102 flex as "pro" for their retail sticks, but it doesn't mean it's "pro stock".

Return it back, ASAP!

Also, this picture is a dead give away that it's still a fake retail. The font isn't consistent on the sticker. For example, here's a legitimate retail Bauer stick on top versus your stick on the bottom:

Quite possibly one of the worst fakes (and poorest attempt at making it look legit) I've ever seen.

Thanks for the info. Just as I suspected, fake. Good thing I used PayPal!

I completely agree. None of this was shown in the listing, so it appeared legit. Everything about it screamed fake!

Pro stock doesn't come with warranty, yet this still has the sticker. I'm not too familiar with fakes but I know there's a lot of them going around. From your pictures alone I'd say that is a fake. The quality isn't there.

So what do you have to do with regards to paypal and getting your money back from the ebay seller?

Edit: MC88 already mentioned that! gotta read other peoples comments sometimes.

I don't get the whole thing that people say about Pro stocks not coming with warranty stickers.. I have 4 bauer pro stocks, all 100% real and they all have the "warranty void if removed" stickers.. They don't come with the "covered by patents" part but they definitely all have the Numbered warranty stickers on the back of the shaft. Im assuming thats what you mean by "stickers"

Yes, the stickers are always on the sticks because it's a part of the mfg process. Obviously, they're not valid.

Okay yes I knew they didn't have warranties either way but I was confused because it seems like a lot of people are under the impression that they also don't have the sticker. Just wanted to clear up the fact that they DO in fact have them so people don't jump to the conclusion that their pro stock is "fake" just because it has a warranty sticker.

can you check if a totalone nxg is fake by checking the warranty code?

Usually. The most notable thing you'll find in NXG fakes are the poor graphics and odd tex-grip that extends too far from the corners and into the middle of the shaft
