Bauer Supreme Total One MX3 toe problem.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I made a thread a few months ago about some new skates I got that were digging in to my ankle and you guys were extremely helpful. I have a new problem that hopefully someone can give a suggestion.

I purchased these skates about 2 months ago, had em baked, they felt great. Recently though, the inside of my foot where my big toe meets my foot I'm having alot of discomfort if I try and turn or stop. This is on both feet.

My only fix so far is to leave the first 3 or 4 eyelets relatively loose, then tighten the rest of them. The only problem is my foot doesn't feel as snug it seems like an accident waiting to happen.

I don't think the skate is too big, as the half size smaller was just too tight. Maybe I would need like a custom fit of 7.75 instead of the 8.0D that I have now.

What do u guys suggest? Anyone else have this problem? I was thinking I could maybe cut a gel pad and glue it inside there but I'm not sure.

Thanks for any help.

Hey AIREAYE,

Yes, the original insole is still in there and I didn't cut the flaps or alter the skates at all. Would the insole affect The inside of the toe like that? It's on the side, like if you were to sit Indian style that bump where your big toe meets the foot on the side.I don't know if I'm doing a great job explaining it.

This is probably a dumb question, but cut what off exactly? How would I go about doing it?

Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated.

PS12: No its not a big bump or a bunion. Just my foot. I'll try and post a picture here at work lol.

Thanks AIREAYE, I will give that a try. Do you know if anyone's had success with it. I really like the skates, minus that one problem

Do you still have the original insole in there? Did you cut the flaps off?

It affects a lot of people. Dumb feature really. Cut them off and skate with them.

I had someone in my shop with a similar issue. I showed him the insole and we cut the flaps out next time he was in for a sharpening he told me the discomfort was relieved.

Something like this might work for you, depending on where the discomfort is.

Works for me in Bauer skates. Just need to sprinkle a bit of baby powder on them and they're quite reusable if you rinse them off.

Yup I have to use those in my goal skates against the hard plastic toe cap. Even with them it still hurts but what can ya do?

I had a similar issue with my MX3s. There was some sort of pressure around my toes cause slight pain and numbness. I tried tying them looser which relieved the numbing but i did not get the same feel for the skates. Felt loose. I took a leap and had them ever so slightly stretch the boo right at the beginning of the toes. Relieved the issue, skates feel great and have never looked back.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I cut the insole flaps off and will try them out tonight. I'll report back but I'm optimistic. There's noticeable indentation on both of the flaps.

I never realized the insoles had these things.
