Warrior shafts- shaft profile question

Recommended Posts

Quirky question...

Does the shaft profile differ between warriors dynasty ax1s standard shaft and ax1t tapered shaft?

I am thinking that there was a difference between the old ak27 profile and the dolomite profile...so am wondering about the difference here.

Want a 75 flex and prefer standard shafts, especially with shafts and blades dissappearing...but wonder if i should pick up a ax1t while they are on sale

They are both the same shaft shape.

So I have not put this shaft to use yet...Tapered blades are dissappearing much quicker than I thought they would. Lucky me...I found a few NOS of Warrior Dolomites in a Smyth curve. I've been in search for a smyth for a long long time and I cannot wait to get this into play (I like the CCM/RBK P46).

Big question is...Will Warrior launch the NEW DYnasty shafts and blades or will they go away like CCM/Reebok didi last year...publish them in a catalog and then drop them?

I'm in the same boat as well. I'm now at the point where I have more shafts than blades, can't even find them on ebay anymore in my model. Might just have to make the full time switch to ops when the blades are done, but I'd rather not. Currently using the dynasty ax1T with an eq50 blade.

Anyone tried the bauer 1x blade? Looks like its going to be one of the only ones on the market this year.

just picking up an NOS Bauer X:60 P88 blade to stick in my boys now back-up 2 pc. THis year he was moved to D and playing with a P92 type of curve does not work well for him back there. Went to a OPS Warrior Covert DT3LT in a W88 and he has been rocking that stick/curve. Otherwise he has been playing Warrior shafts for many many moons (4+ years). When we went OPS shopping I tried to ID a few makes and models...He went with the Warrior over the other current hot sticks.

I have a stock of Std wood blades that I picked up and have debated having them adjusted to work with a tapered shaft...

How heavy is an EQ50 composite blade? Everything that comes in gets weighed.

The eq50 blade is listed at 135 grams, I would say that's pretty accurate but I have never weighed it personally. I used the SE16 and synergy elite blades before that and it feels similar in weight, with the eq50 being maybe a touch heavier.

Just called Base about blades, they said they can make them for $60 each, which seems fair. 132 grams for the sakic/hall style curve. Very nice customer service. Does anyone have any experience with the base blades and if they are smilar to Easton?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I ask becuase they used to advertise the added weight to the heel of the blade and thought it added more weight to the blades overall weight.

Wow $60 a blade...I guess if its them or bauer...your gonna spend $60...somewhere I thought they marketed the factory direct thing...which makes me think...your gonna save a lil coin $$$...but I guess not...BUT they do have more patterns than bauer

You do save coin in the long run, if you figure you are likely to go through 2 or 3 paddles per shaft. That's why I prefer 2 piece (and why the manufacturers reportedly do not like them, PLUS the fact that they do not sell like the OPS sticks).

Cosmic, biggest issue I see with youth hockey is people are unaware.... they are unaware that you can try various curves to fine tune what works for your skater for stick handling and shooting. They are even unaware that you can add an extension to a stick. I am surprised with how many I have enlightened.

Put the Dynasty ax1t 75 flex into play with a Nos dolomite blade with a W06 Smyth curve. I really like what I have configured.

Cosmic, if you are comparing going with a comparable top of the line 2 piece vs. a ops...you arecorrect...but some stick makers muddy the water with too many sticks in a line (thinking Bauer vapor) you have or had like 7 levels of vapor sticks...a consumer is so overwhelmed deciphering between those 7 and then these things you glue together.

I picked up a ribcore 25K Ops only after reebok dropped their 2 pc options, but I really wanted to try a P46 curve as well. Like the curve, but gather a warrior Gionta may be more of what I really would want. Liking the Smyth curve right now.

hawkeyfan,

We have the same taste in paddles apparently. I have wanted to try the Sherwood Smyth or Warrior Gionta, but cannot get my hands on either. Crazy how hard it is to find a good closed face, eh, which is not excessively small (Iginla) or whatever?

When I called BASE, they said the Malkin Pro curve is more closed than the W88 I have been using; let's hope they are right, as I got a couple waiting for me which I will be using in less than 1 month (to go with Warrior tapered AX1 shafts).

The P46 has a huge rocker, yes? And is more open than Smyth/ Gionta?

Anyway, if you see any tapered Smyths or Giontas floating around, then please lemme know.

Oh and since you like traditional paddles, you may wanna see if TRUE has anything for ya. (You probably know they sell traditional shafts and paddles, and as far as I know, ought to be continuing to do so).

Righty ...

My recent blade history was:

Kopitar- way too open.

Iginla- not enough hook, too small.

Kovalchuk- loved the closed face and big hook for shooting wristers. This kept my shots at perfect height and I never shot high. Problem was small blade and flat rocker.

W88 Zetterberg- Paddle length is good, would not mind it being a tad taller but no big deal. Rocker is good. Blade face is just too open. I am always putting shots 6-12 inches higher than I want, and either shooting over the net, or right into the goalie's crotch when I try to go 5 hole. Or, I take a lot off my shot so I can keep it low, and the goalie has an easy time of saving it. I have been using W88 for quite some time, and just on the lookout for a better option.

Too Bad, as the Smyth are a Lefty...

The Warrior Smyth and the CCM/RBK P46 are similar...EXCEPT the P46 is more open. I will try to get some pics to compare...to me the p46 is like taking a p92 curve and combining it with a p88 where there is more curvature at the heel of the blade.

What I like is a littl extra adjustment out at the toe, but I also like the P88/W88 curvature. I get alot more power with the hook for wristers adding a 75 flex shaft and the non openness of the Warrior Smyth and I like what I am seeing so far.

I get stuck playing D...so I do not want alot of openess as I do like to take shots...Who knows...maybe I need a passing stick and a shooting stick for games...crazy I know
